This being Canada Week, the
service on Sunday at Duff's
United Church, Walton, was
opened with "God Save the
Queen" and closed with the
National Anthem, "0 Canada".
Church service begins at 11:00
a.m. The scripture reading was
taken from 1 Peter 5: 5 - 11 and
Luke 15: 1 - 10. Rev. Baker spoke
on his sermon, "From Ocean unto
Ocean". The choir sang the
anthem, "Ivory Palaces".
Offering was received by Ray
Huether, Norman Schade and
Jack McEwing.
Rev. Baker's holidays have
been changed starting from July
21 'till August 20.

Mr. William Bell has been a
patient in Wingham hospital the
past couple of weeks, we hope he
is soon able to be home.
Mrs. Bev. Ford and family of
Sheffield spent a day last week
with her mother, Mrs. Phyllis
Dunk. Kim Ford remained with
her grandmother for a few
olidays.
There were several people from
the area who attended the Van
Poucker-Baillie wedding at Duff's
United Church, Walton on Friday
evening and the reception that
followed at Family Paradise.
Mr. and Mrs Ray Huether,
Steven and John spent a weekend
recently at Niagara Falls.
Mr. and Mrs.Robert
Humphries and family spent the
Dominion holiday and weekend
visiting relatives in the village.
Congratulations to John
Huether who won first prize in a

Centennial Concert Friday night.

was held to celebrate their 40th
wedding anniversary on

as an Electronics Engineering
Technician and is employed with

Diploma in the Public Relations'
Option at Durham College of
Applied Arts and Techtielogy,
Oshawa, during their convocation
held May 29.
On Saturday July 3 the couple
were honoured at a celebration on
the occasion of their 40th wedding
anniversary at the home of their
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Ken Shortreed, R.R.#3,
Walton. •
A smorgasbord supper was
served. Guests who attended •
