At the age of 13 he left school. The first Eaton store was built at Glen Williams near Georgetown, Ontario. He didn't hire just anybody to work in the store but chose wisely and well for he was a good judge of character. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Harry Elliott. The shade of trees by a fish pond provided a pleasant setting. Opening Ode was sung followed by the Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs. Bill Peacock read the minutes and correspondence. Included was a thank you note and an invitation from Wroxeter Institute to attened an Old Time Dance in Wroxeter Hall July 2. Committee members are Mrs. Carl Johnston, Mrs. Ken Simmons, Mrs. Alex MacTavish, Mrs. Bill De Vos, and Mrs. Wendell Stamper. Bluevale Women's Institute members looked over the grounds of the cemetery. They decided it would be better to erect some of the tombstones that had fallen over rather than planting flowers. It appears to be too stoney for proper •growth. Everyone answered roll call by stating where they started school and gave their teachers name. Mrs. Gordon Gregg, Lisotwel read. several humorous pieces - "The Three BlackCrows", "The Dollar and the Cent", "The Paddle and the Shingle" and "Wages for Wife". Mrs. Mel Craig then read her interesting review about Timothy Eaton. Old school texts were displayed. They had been brought by members . Refreshments of hot dogs, toasted marshmallows and a cool drink brought the meeting to a dose. The July meeting will take place at Bluevale Park; July 14 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Carl Johnston will be hostess.
