Huron. Board of Educator! trustees asked the province to start deciding what's to be taught in the schools again at their meeting Monday. Recommendations presented by education commitee chairman John Elliott said present curriculum guidelines published' by the Ontario Ministry of Education are more of a philosophical statement than a teacher's guide. The board passed a resolution (By Wilma Oke) A 10 per cent increase in the salary grid and , responsibility allowances for the 155 teachers in the Huron-Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School System was approved by the school board last week at a special meeting in Dublin. The new contract will have to meet approval of the federal anti-inflation board, and will govern the 1976-77 school year. Stratford trustee Howard Shantz, head of the school board's negotiating committee said the committee is satisfied with the agreement and happy to have arrived at an early settle- ment. Board chairman Arthur Haid of R.B. 4, Listowel; and Gaetan Blanchette, head of the teachers' negotiating team and "president of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Associations local, both expressed satisfaction with the settlement and said each groups was unanimous in accept. ing the proposal. The settlement will mean an increased cost of $287,000 to the board, and will bring the average annual salary from $13,513 to,,, $15,277 for teachers in the' system. The final motion asks the director of education to investigate the feasibility of introducing a performance review system for all employees of the board.
