This provincial support has enabled ARtistic Director James Roy not only to commission an original play, but to extend the season to August 14th this summer. The season opens July 3rd with The Blood is Strong by Lister Sinclair. This new musical version of Mr. Sinclair's story about a Scottish immigrant family living in Canada in the 1840's will be co-directed by James Roy and Stephen Thorne. The' music • is being composed by Glenn Morley and is based on traditional Scottish tunes. How I Met My Husband by Alice Munro was originally produced as a C.B.C. drama. Now adapted for the theatre, July 6th will mark the first performance of the stage version. Back after a popular run lak year is an adaptation of three of Harry J. Boyle's novels entitled Mostly in Clover. The play, which opens July 17th, has been enlarged this year, and the addition 'of musical- numbers will make it better than ever. The final production will be Shape, a country and western musical • comedy about the Olympics, specially commissioned by the Blyth Summer Festival and written by Jim Schaefer. It opens . The funds from the Cultural Olympics will go toward the production of an original work by Jim SChaefer. Perrie ;, Mrs. Annie Pollard of Listowel, Doug Pollard of Guelph, Mrs. Mary Hollinger of Hamilton and George McNair of Hamilton visited on Sunday with Rev.' and Mrs. James Perrie at Shakespeare. Miss Muriel Brothers returned to :Toronto Sunday evening after spending . the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yuill. She attended worship service at Melville Church where the Friday night previous, she had addressed the W.M.S. of Melville Church, also ladies from all the village churches and Cranbrook, Walton and Belgrave. Miss Brothers spent 42 years on the mission fields of India and has great concern for mission work of the church. A happy family gathering of relatives of Mrs. VVin. C. King was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. King on Saturday. Some of the people Mrs. King had, never seen and others had not been together, fOr many years, so it was a joyous re-union for all. Fifty people were in attendance from Toronto, Hamilton, Simcoe, Burlington, Oakville, VVelland, Port Colborne, Delhi and Detroit. Tufnbull offered, Prayer. There were 38 visitations made during the month of May, The members responded to the Roll Call with an account of "An Interesting 111111111.111111W Ili bk. Holiday.." A short skit was presented by Mrs. Smtih and Mrs. Fht pfer, Contests were convened by M rs, Turnbull,, Miss Lucas, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Taylor. Following the program a secret auction of donated articles was held. Mrs. Miller expressed words of appreciation to the hostess and conveners. EXPLAIN COLOUR —.
