Wingham Circle Schools Help each On Thursday evening, May 13, a very informative meeting of the Wingharn and District Association for the Mentally Reltarcled was held in the Golden Circle School. The president Mrs. George Cameron welcomed several area visitors along with the regular members. Bill Stephenson and his committee reported that the dance held on April 30th was very successful. Nazir Khan, Wingham, was the winner in the draw for a hooked rug. Julie Henderson, 'president of Y.A.C.M.R. (Youth Across Canada with the Mentally Retarded) told of the group's project of "Name the Doll and Win It'!. The doll is on display in the window of Jennifer's Beauty Salon and the draw for the ,winning ticket will take place on May 19th. They are also planning a picnic and field day to be held in Stratford on June 19th and the children will be taken to this event on a school bus. The ncoming president of Y.A.C.M.R. is Christie Lewis. MrsMarilyn McPherson talked about the activities of the Silver Circle School. N ext fall this school will be held five days a week. She explained that when the ch ildren are taught different things, they must have fun and this keeps their attention for a longer period of time. At present there are four full-time and two part-time trainees and this will be increased in September also another teacher will be • hired at this time. The guest speaker for the evening was Mrs. Florence Reavie, principal of the . Golden • Circle School. The students started last week going swimming at Vanastra every Thursday afternoon and the school staff appreciates the help of the many volunteers who are assisting with this activity. There are three students being sent to Camp Belwoocl• this summer., Mrs. Reavie reported that Huron County is the first to have the retarded schools located within the regular elementary schools. She showed several interesting slides of the students, some of which showed the integration of all pupils in the Wingham School. A fund raising committee was formed. This is very essential MAY 26,• 16/6 child because the nursery School and the Adult Workshop receive only 80% support from the Governinent and they remainder has to be raised by projects and donations. It is hoped the FLOWERS OF HOPE donations will exceed last year's total. The next meeting will be held on. June 10 and a good crowd is anticipated.
