McCall Correspondent The May, meeting of the Walton Unit was held on Wednesday evening in the church b asement withMrs. Herb Traviss giving the Call to Worship. Mrs. Bill Coutts read a poem ' 'Things Work Out." Hymn 610 "A Little Seed Lay Fast Asleep" was sung. Mrs. Ray Huether was pianist. Mrs. Coutts read scriptures from Psalm 39 and Colossians 3:13-17, Mrs. Traviss gave a reading for the meditation on "Fault Finding" followed by prayer by Mrs. Coutts. Hymn 637, "The Lord's My Shepherd" closed the devotional period. Mrs. Gerald Watson chose' everal readings for the topic, Mothers of the Wild" and a poem "Darwin's Mistake" also `What Prayer Can Do" closing, with a poem, "A 'Mother's Prayer." Mrs. Herb Traviss presided for the busines. Minutes were read by Mrs. Howard Hackwell. There were .19 members present. Mrs. Joan Clark was welcomed to the unit. A Card of Thanks ware read. The offering was re..cieved , and dedicated. Mrs. Mack Sholdice gave the treasurer's report. She reported $180.60 had been realized from the Bakeless Bazaar last month. The June, meeting will be a joint meeting with other units at the U.C.W. general meeting, June 2nd at 8:15., Pictures will be shqwn of the Anniversary last June. Walton Unit members are reminded of the copper contest money to come in to the leaders. Also Walton Unit is responsible. for flowers in the church for the month of May. Mrs. T raviss closed the meeting with a reading followed by prayer. Grace was sung, lunch was served by Mrs. Ron Bennett, Mrs. Bill Coutts and Mrs. Earl Watson during a social half hour. and roll call were read, by Mrs. Harold McCallum. A thank you card from Helen Craig was read. Announcements were given out from the U.C.W. executive meeting the week before to be brought to the units. Treasurer and miscellaneous fund reports were given. Mrs. Hugh Johnston offered to take over the miscellaneous fund for the rest of the year for Mrs. Van. Vliet as she is moving to Brussels in the near future. This unit is responsible to put flowers in the church for the Sundays of September. The benediction closed the Meeting, followed by lunch being served by Mrs. Roy Williamson, Mrs. Helen Williamson and •Mrs. George Williamson. pianist for the hymn 613, "Jesus Bids Us Shine." The children then went to their classes with' their teachers this month, Mrs. Mack Sholdice, Mrs. Ross Bennett, Mrs. Merton Hackwell and Mrs. Ray Huether. Church notes Rev. Ed Baker spoke on his sermon, "Sorrow Turning into Joy" at the Sunday service at Duff's United Church. The Choir sang the anthem,"Beautiful Words of Jesus." There was a meeting of the Sunday School staff on Monday evening. Mrs. H. Craig and Rev. Baker will represent the Walton congregation this week when London Conference meets in Windsor. personals Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ritchie were: Mr. and Mrs. Don Krick of Hamilton, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lydiatt of Barrie. • Mr. Jim Clark, Ann and Keith, Mrs. Maude Leeming and Mr. William Bennett were guests of Mrs. Kathleen Danby in Brussels on Sunday. Several members of the Walton Branch of the Women's Institute attened. the 74th Annual Meeting of the East Huron Women's Institute at the Presbyterian Church, Molesworth on Tuesday,, May 12. , Miss. Tharon Riley of Wroxeter spent the week-end with her grandmother, Mrs. Charles McCutcheon. The Walton Recreation Committee are planning a Walkathon on Saturday, May 29th to Blyth and return. Anyone interested can get their sponsor sheets from any committee member or any store in Walton. The committee thanks everyone for their support, so far approximately $2,600 has been raised for park improvements. Come on everyone get your sponsor sheet for this walkathon and help them reach their goal for the park in Walton. Mr. and Mrs. Torrence Dundas, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mills and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Stevens enjoyed a 4 day bus trip to Kalamzoo and Holland Michigan last week. The reported the tulips were beautiful. Thirteen from Walton area attended the Dessert Euchre of the Londesboro Institute in the hall on Friday evening.' We welcome Dr. Laverne and Mrs Clark to our community. They live in the home formerly occupied by the Murray Smith's who have moved to Seaforth. The Clarks came here from Guelph, and he is employed with Dr. Leibold at Blyth. Receiving their Agricultural Business Management two year diploma at Centralia College' of ,Agricultural Technology held at Huron Park, Ontario on Friday May 14th were Michael John Blake, Murray Rae Houston and Ross Emerson Mitchell from this area. Those attending the, dinner and dance at Pine Ridge Chalet,. Scripture from 1st orrinthians, Chaper 12 was read by Mrs. Helen Williamson ollowed by Mrs. R. Williamson giving prayer. A very interesting opie, "The Prodigal Mother" as given by Helen followed by a oem, "A Mother's Silent Word'', y Kathleen. Collection, was eceived and dedicated. Hymn 88, "Come Let Us Sing of a onderful Love." closed the evotions. Mrs. Martin Bann was in harge of the business.
