Curlers end season
The Tuesday afternoon curlers
ended the season with an
'interclub spiel, on March 30th.
After the first game the ladies
enjoyed a chicken dinner and had
their annual meeting, chaired by
the president, Wilma Rathwell.
Betty Citrdiff, sec-treas. gave a
report of the year's work. Thanks
to the co-operation of all the
ladies it was another very
successful year. Items of business
were dealt with and then back on
the ice for the final game.
There were a lot of pleas to
.'sweep and sweep harder'
because a hogged rock meant the
culprit had to honk a' horn to let
everyone know of her short-
comings.
On ice some drastic action was
taken by a lead when her skip had
trouble seeing the broom, and '
another skip made a fantastic
trick shot with her last rock to pull
up for a tie.
When all the rocks were
counted first place went to Edith
Warwick and her rink, Bonnie
Wilson, Dorothy McDonald and
Edna Pearson with 27% points.
' Coming -second wasJean
Bridge, Velma Locking, Yvonne
Knight and, Karen Uhler.
Third Kendra Krauter, Janet
Locking, Jean Veitch, Fran
Bremner, Fourth Dorothy Uniac,
Doris Fisher, Carol i nnes,
Donelda Pearson.
Other winners were the
foursome of Helen Bray, Joanne
Plas, Isabelle Rathwell, Jackie
Pettapiece; Betty Finch, Galdys
'Bray, Mary Ten Pas, Nora
Stephenson; Sue Gowing, Shirley
Wheeler, Betty Cardiff, Aileen
Mutter; and Joanne King,, Betty
Knight, Leona McDonald, Barb
Dunbar.
Each curler received a spring
plant. ' The indespensible
icemaker and the lady who looks
after the curling room were also
presented with a plant and given
a hearty vote of thanks.
