The project, he said, was basically one of the municipality and introduced council members from the townships of Morris, Grey and Brussels. The young people of the newly formed Leo Club, sponsored by the local Lions had expressed interest in what they could do for the Senior Citizens. Mr. McCutcheon concluded by saying he hoped the building would be filled with people that have the need and that it would serve the purpose it was meant for. A telegram from the Hon. Barney Danson was read saying the Senior Citizens Housing was a perfect example of the co-operation of the Provincial, Federal and Municipal Govern- ments and expressed his wish that all tenants find happiness and contentment. He congratu: lated everyone who had a part. Mrs. Frances McHale, a board member of the Ontario Housing Corporation, in speaking said it was hard to believe that 120 years ago this was undeveloped Crown Land. She spoke of the early history and paid tribute to the pioneers of the area. Senior Citizens could, she felt, help young people to understand the history of their community more. than in any other manner. The audience was told by Mrs.McHale that all Senior Citizen Housing has criteria that must be adhered to; lower cupboards; higher wall outlets; brighter lighting; skrd- resis_tant-floot covering, all for the convenience of senior citizens. She welcomed the residents and hoped they would be happy and comfortable in their new home. R.E.McKinley, as representa- tive of the Federal Government, spoke briefly offering congratu- lations to the Village of Brussels, reeve and councillors and all who contributed to the completion of the project, the government departments and contractors. Presentation of gifts was made : a Canadian flag by a government representative accepted by Alfred Knight on behalf of the residents; a coffee maker by Mrs. McHale accepted by C. Davey and a tea pot accepted by Mrs. A. Baker. The Prayer of Dedication was g iven by the Rev. Eric LeDrew of Brussels United Church. The Ribbon cutting Ceremony was participated in by Mrs. Florence Russell, oldest resident of the apartments; Mrs. A. Baker, Reeve J. L. McCutcheon, R. E. McKinley M.P., and Mrs. McHale. A tour of the building was followed by refreshments served by ladies of the Majestic Women's Institute of Brussels. The appearance lof the Maitland Valley Conser- vation Authority Watershed Map has changed drastically since 1951 when, the Middle Maitland Conservation Authority was established. Three times during the intervening 25 years the boundaries of the Authority have opened, lengthened, and closed around new Trrunicipalities and new areas. This growth process has recently resulted in a 150 sq. mile area being added to the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. Ten miles of Lake Huron shoreline and the entire Lucknow River watershed were included in this major addition. The map shows • the new shape of the 1,160 sq. mile Authority area and the location of the Authority's 12 conservation areas. The Townships of Ashfield and Culross and the Town of Lucknow are the newest member municipalities and join the other 29 members in participating in the numerous conservation programs. of the Authority. The Board of Management al Huronview had been considering the increase, but when the staff volunteered for the raised price, board members felt compelled to follow their example.T ey decided that on meeting days, each board member would forfeit ' $1 for the meal that until this ti had been free. "You mean the county will pay for it," said Elgin Thompson, reeve of Tuckersmith, hardly believing his ears. "No, my understanding was t the committee members wo pay for the meals out of their o pockets," said Mr. Archiba Several heads nodded agreement.
