basements in some sections of the
village were the worst results
reported. The residents of the
homes affected in this way may
not consider it so minor when
they have the resulting mess to
clean up. The Maitland River
overflowed its banks in low-lying
areas east and west of the bridge.
Water lapped the rear of the
Topnotch building and inundated
the Lions picnic park and low
areas beyond there. The Post is
,not the only news media that errs
in reporting. We were told a radio
broadcoast reported that access to
Brussels was impossible because
of flooding. This of course was not
the case. Wingham and Listowel
were much harder hit by the high
water which is usual in such
conditions.

Thousands of people crowded
the Toronto airport over the
weekend, at the beginning of the
school break, eager to be on their
way flying off to the warmth of
-the sunny south. Most of us are
not so lucky, but take heart,
spring is on its way. Not everyone
was heading for the south. Others
were praying for cold weather and
snow for they were heading for
the ski slopes.
