Doug McArter had the
misfortune to receive a nasty gash
on the forehead that required
several stitches. The injury was
inflicted by a hockey stick in a
game in the Brussels arena on
Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Harper Wood of
Mitchell were visitors on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs.
R. W. Kennedy.

The first meeting of the "Cran-
brook French Knots" was held at
the home of Mrs. Nick Lefor on
Saturday, February 28 at 2 o'clock
The next meeting is to be held on
March 6 at the home of Mrs.
Lorne Strickler at 1:30p.m. The
election of officers was as follows:
President, Joan Hart. Vice presi-
dent, Donna Hart. Secretary,
Rotating. Treasurer, Tracy Engel.

There was a discussion on a
colour scheme. Everyone is to
purchase their fabric and thrppei

meeting.

Greetings to all former friends
in. Brussels have been received
from Lawson Clouse and his wife
Dorothea who now live at 14806
N. Yerba Buena Way, Fountain
Fulls, Arizona, 85268,
Lawson retired in 1974, from
his position in Michigan and was
lured to the southern climates
where he is enjoying
temperatures of 73 0 and sunshine
in abundance.

one son Winston of Cambridge
(Galt) who visited them on the
weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn
motored to Kemptville on Satur-
day and attended the funeral of
their nephew, George Barr, who
died suddenly as the result of a
heart attack, at the age of 40
years. Mrs. Barr is the forMer
Margaret McDonald, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George McDonald,
Molesworth. Surviving besides'
his wife is five daughters all at
home.

The annual meeting of the
Presbyterian Church.was held on
February 17 with Rev. Robert H.
Armstrong as chairman. All
organizations reports showed a
successful year.
It was decided to increase the
insurance coverage on the manse
and to give Wayne - Baswick,
student minister, an increase in
salary -for the coming year
A committee consisting of Ross
Gray, Gordon Mundell, Mrs.
Glenn Golley and Mrs. Win..
The February meeting. of the
Woinen's Institute was held . at
the home of Mrs. Ken Simmons.
on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.
Wendell Stamper presided and
the meeting opened with the
Opening Ode and the Mary
Stewart Collect.
Mrs. Harry Elliott and Mrs.
Charles Mathers will be
conveners of a potluck dinner to
precede the annual meeting in
April.
Members decided to order 500
more cook books to be available
for sale.
The roll call, "Did you hear?"
was answered with current events
of to-day. Members brought gifts
for the Cancer Cupboard.
Mrs. Harry Elliott gave the
motto, "World Affairs are Our
Affairs."
Smiles and chuckles were
intermingled throughout the
program.
Mrs. Charles Mathers was
guest speaker and her topic was
Country Women of the World.
She spoke on the life and
achievements of Adelaide. Hunter
Hoodless, founder of the
Elston was named to make plans
for celebrating the 50th
anniversary of the present church
building.
Most officials Were re-elected
Brian Moffatt, Joe Walker and
Mrs. Keith Moffatt were elected
to the board of managers for a
three-year term. John McInnes
was elected head usher, Mrs. R.
Mann and Mrs. B, Th omas were
named representatives of the
Bible Society.
A vote of thanks was tendered
interim moderator, Rev. Robert
Armstrong, also Wayne Baswick,
Women's Institute. She was also
instrumental in organizing the
Y.W.C.A. and the Victorian
Order of Nurses.
The March meeting will be_ a
visit to Brookhaven with Mrs.
Marie de Vos in charge. Those
wishing to go are to be at Mathers
Store at 1:30 and are to take
homemade cookies.
Lunch was served by the
hostess.
The World's Day of Prayer will
be observed in the . ' Bluevale
United Church on Friday, March
5 with Mrs. Hardy of the
Salvation Army Corps, Wingham,
as guest speaker. All ladies of the
community are invited.
The March Institute meeting on
March 10 will be a • visit to
Brookhaven. Ladies are to meet at
Mathers Store at 1:30 p.m. and
are asked to bring homemade
cookies.
