Following the singing of the Friendship Club Song, Edwin welcomed the members and made a few introductory comments. Mrs. Ernest Stevens announc- ed that a bus would pick ,up people who would like • to attend the Ice Capades in Kitchener on Friday March 12. The trip will cost $8.00 and if anyone would like to go please call Mrs. Stevens 8'87-9369 is her telephone number A 4-day trip to Michigan to see the tulips is also planned for May. More information will be given, as to definite date. Elinor Hemingway reminded members that carpet bowling is being played in the Library basement each Thursday after- noon. All are invited to partake in this interesting game. Classes in quilting and macrame are also being held the same afternoon. Fourteen tables of progressive euchre were played. Prize win- ners were: High man, Clem Steffler. High lady, Mrs. Peter McDonald. Low man, John Simp- son. Low lady, Mrs. J. Van Vliet. Most pennies in his purse, Alfred Knight. Lucky cup, Mrs. W.C. Mrs. Jim McDonald gave the Call to Worship. Hymn, "All Hail thePower of Jesus' Name" was sung. Scripture was read from Luke 1: 39-56 followed by meditation also given by Mrs. J. McDonald, "No act can be performed without influencing others somehow whether good or bad". Prayer was offered. "Take Time to be Holy" was sun.g The topic, "Mary the Mother of Jesus" was given by Mrs. J. McDonald, closing with a poem, "A Mother's Love". A very interesting reading was read on "The Indians don't understand" , a story about the Ojibway Indians, north of Korea. Closing this part of the meeting with prayer. The World Day of Prayer service to be held on Friday, March 5 at 2 p.m. was announced. The executive to meet at 1 p.m. The collection was received and dedicated. Further plans will be made later for the annual ham supper in June. The meeting closed with prayer. A social half hour followed with lunch served by Mrs. Ken McDonald, and the hoste4s, Mrs. Doug Fraser. Mr, and Mrs. David Brady and daughter of London visited on the weekend With Mr. W.J.Leeniing and family, Mt, Leeming returned home with them On Sunday when he will be admitted to St, Joseph's Hospital on Monday for surgery, We wish hint a successful recovery, When the electrical storm passed through this area about 5 a„nt. Sunday, it caused a burst of fire, at the Hydro station at the MARCH 1076 north end of the village at the ninth line- corner. The Blyth fire department were called to prevent further spreading to other close buildings. The hydro service was required, some residences were without hydro for a short time. The World Day of Prayer service will be held at Duff's United Church, Walton, on Friday, March 5 at 2 p.m. The theme of this years program will be "Education, For All of Life". The guest speaker to be our minister, Rev. Ed. Baker. All ladies in the community are cordially invited. We are glad to report that Cliff Ritchie has returned home from St. Joseph's Hospital, London after a two week stay after being transferred from Wingham Hospial following a cat - truck accident on Saturday, February 7.
