WE HAVE FREE PICK-UP AND DELIVERY SERVICE' Walton McDougal family skit presented at UCW Correspondent Mrs. Allan McCall Mrs. Harold Bolger gave the Call to Worship for the February meeting of the, Walton Unit on Thursday evening in the church basement. Hymn, "Th ou Shalt Airse" Arise" was sung accompanied by the pianist, Mrs. Ray Fluether. The general Thanksgiving prayer was read in unison. Mrs. NelsonReid told the story of George. McDougal and family in the form of a skit. Mrs. Reid played the part of George, Mrs. Edna Hackwell played the part of his wife Elizabeth and Mrs. . Bolger was their oldest son John. Mr. and Mrs. George McDougal were married in -1842 and both became. Methodists. They had three sons, John, David and Moses. Mr. McDougal worked among the Indians. After he was married he operated leading vessels and was away a lot from home. Before moving to the west, he was in the militia for a brief time. He also became a missionary. The McKillop Unit of the U.C.W. Duff's Church,Walton was held at the home of Mrs. Don Dennis with 12 members present. Mrs. McCutcheon was in charge of devotions opening with Call to Worship followed by Prayer. Hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung. Mrs. McCutcheon then read a poem "I'm Fine There's Never a Thing Wrong With Me", Mrs. L. - Godkin read. the Scriptures from Matthew 7: 1-5 and Romans 14:,1-13 and gave the devotion on the theme "Haste Judgment". Mrs. McCutcheon read a poem "The Credit Card".. 'Hymn, "0 Worship the Lord'' was sung followed by prayer. A Bible quiz was conducted by Mrs Godkin.. Mrs. S. McCall gave a very interesting topic on "Have- You Mrs. H. Bolger read scriptures readings from. Chapters of Acts, Romans and Matthew followed by prayer by Mrs.E. Hackwell, Hymn, "Take 'My Life" was sung. This - closed the devotional part of the meeting. Mrs. Herb Traviss presdied for the -business. Minutes were approved as .read by the secretary, Mrs. Howard Hackwell. Roll call was answered by 16 members. The new sides were chosen by the Copper Contest leaders, Mrs: Emerson Mitchell and Mrs. Nelson Marks. It was a reported that five quilts have been completed in the past week. The 'World Day of 'Prayer for March 5 at 2 P.M. was discussed with several members to take part in the program from the printed sheet. The U.C.W. executive is to meet at 1 p.m. prior to World Day of Prayer. Mrs. H. Traviss gave a reading "A Pattern of Thinking" and the "Twenty-third Psalm", also a poem, "If God, went on Strike". The Mizpah benediction closed Made a New Resolution in the New Year Ahead". Offering .was taken by Mrs. M. Hackwell and dedicated by Mr.s. McCutcheon. This part of the meeting was closed by prayer. Mrs. N. Schade presided for business thanking everyone who had taken part in devotion also Mrs. D., Dennis for her home. Mrs. Schadc read a poem "Not KnoWing". Minutes of the last meeting . were read by Mrs.- G. McNichol followed by roll call. Treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Hackwell. Two hymns were sung. The meeting was closed by everyone repeating the Mizpah benediction. Lunch was served by Mrs. M. Dennis, Mrs. Burch and hostess,. Mrs. D. Dennis. the meeting followed by a social half hour with lunch being served by Mrs. Gordon. Murray, Mrs. Ray Fluether and Mrs. Herb Traviss. .Personals Mr. and Mrs. Doug Smith and family of Hamilton spent the . weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Smith and Tanily . Dr. Brian and Mrs. Traviss and girls of Waterloo visited on the weekend at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Traviss. We are glad to r hear that Stewart McCall returned home from Seaforth Hospital last week. He was a patient there for the week. The 'Institute card party should take place this Friday evening in the hall, if the weatherman co-operates. Margaret Shortreed's name was omitted in the list of girls from the' area that took part with the S.D.FI,S. Girls Trumpet Band that were to play five different times in the seven days in. Jeanne McDonald. made the dedication on behalf of the. Mission Band while Jack McEwing, clerk of the session replied.Rev. Ed. 'Baker gave prayer and also told thuchildren a story before they returned to the basement for the rest of their meeting. They opened with singing hYmni "Jesus Bids us Shine". A filmstrip was shown entitled, "The Brave Engineer Showing Loyalty".
