R.R.5, Brussels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. deorge
Wheeler and Blaine Moore , son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Moore, Wing-ham, placed second at Sault Ste
Marie on Sunday, February 15th at the Ontario
Winter Games, Carol and Blaine are, members of the
Wingham F.S.Club and Carol is also a member efthe
Brussels F.S.Club.
Novices beat Goderich

The 12th Annual Wingham
Midget Hockey . Tournament,
featuring 32 Ontario and two
teams, will be held in Canada's,
Radio and Television town over
two; four-day weekends in March
this year with champions to be
decided in. "AAA", 'A", "11",
and "C" categories.
Long established as one of the
premiere Midget .hockey tourneys
in Ontario, the Wingham events.
kick off Mr. 14 thru 23 with 12
"A" 'entries and eight "C"
star tern.. The final weekend,
Mar. 5 that 28 features eight "B"
erittles and 8 "AAA"
including defending champion

The Novice team played , the
second game of their series with
Seaforth on Wednesday night and
were defeated 7 - 2. Brussels
goals were scored by Kevin
MeArter. with one assist from
Gary Godkin.
The Bantam team travelled to
Mildmay on Wednesday night for
the first game in their consolation
round. They came home with a 5
1 win. Goals ,were scored by Bill
Smith 2, Doug Cousins '2, Scott
Wheeler 1. Assists went to
Darwin McCutcheon, Doug.
Cousins and Scott Wheeler.
On Friday night the Atom A's
hosted- a team .from Paisley for
their first: game in the second
round of playoffs. At the end of
regular time the score was tied 3
-3. After a ten minute overtime
period was played, each tearnhad
scored one goal each and the
score remained tied at 4-4. Brian
Wheeler scored 2 goals, Darrin
Watts and Robbie Cardiff, 1 each.
Assists went to Richard
1-laveman, Darrin Watts, Danny
:Achelles, Doug Shaw and Dean
Rutledge.
The Peewees finally played
their third and deciding game
against Teeswater on Friday
night. It proved to be most
exciting. Brussels took a 3 - 1 lead
at the end of the first period.
Teeswater came back to lead 5 - 4
at the end of the second period
with each team scoring one goal
each in ,the third. The final score
read. Teeswater 6, Brussels 5.
Goals were scored by Todd
Several Wingham Tournament
graduates are n ow performing in
O.H.A. Jr. "A" "B", "C" and
"D" leagues while still others are
performing in college and
professional ranks.
Dozens of Wingham' and' are
&Milks will open their homes to.
billet players and a h early full
course meal will be served every
player every day at noon.

The Novice t earn played their
third game in Seaforth on Friday
night. The home team was
leading 3 - 1 at the end of the
second period but slipped away in
the third period and were
defeated 6 - 3. Brussels goals
were scored by Tim Fritz, Kevin
McArter and Tommie Ward:
Marty Rutledge picked up the
only -assist.
In an exhibition game on
Sunday night the Novice team
hosted a team from. Goderich.
They scored an 8 - 0 victory. Goals
were scored by Kevin McArt er
with 5 goals, Gary Pipe, Marty
Rutledge and Wayne Wheeler, 1
each. Assists went to Dean
Wheeler, ;David Wheeler, Gary
Godkin and Mike Bishop.
Also on Sunday night the
Bantam team played their second
game in their best 2 out of 3
series. In a good game of hockey
the score was tied at the end of
regular time 4-4. In the overtime
period Brussels scored 3
unanswered goals, to win the
game 7 - 4 and series 2 - 0.
Brussels goals were scored by
Scott Wheeler 2, Doug Cousins 2,
Tim Prior, Brian Scott, Paul
Bragg, 1 each. Assists went to
Bill Smith, Scott Wheeler, Doug
Cousins, Tim Prior.
