Members. of the congregation
of Duff's United Church, Walton.
held their annual meeting on
Sunday afternoon January 25,
followirig a pass around lunch at
noon after the morning worship
, znere was an attendance at the
meeting of approximately 41 and
excellent reports received. Rev.
Ed. Baker chaired the meeting.
Mrs. Harvey Craig was nominat-
ed as secretary and the minutes of
last years annual were approved
as read.
A' moments silence was observe
to honour the memory of those
who passed away in 1975, follow-
ed by prayer by Rev:Baker.
Two new members to the
session were accepted, Gerald
Smith nominated to replace, Don
McDonald and Laverne Godkin to
replace Ron Bennett. Four new
members were named for re-
placement of Stewards to be
decided and installed at a later
date. The committee of Stewards
held four meeting during the
year, and attended two Official
Board meetings. They had the
outside of the church painted also
repaired brickwork on the steeple .
and new downspouts on eaves-
trough.
The U.C.W. had a most
successful year. The highlight of
the year was the annual Turkey
Supper in November and the 50th
Anniversary celebration which
was held on June 8th when a
Professional Development Day
On January 28, all the teachers
in Huron County are meeting at
Victoria Public School in Goderich
Several teachers from each school
are going, to present workshops,
lectures, or presentations on
,opics of interest to others, who
may choose what they're inter-
'sted in. Each teacher will have
ime for six events during the
jay. There are three teachers
'rom our school giving presenta-
ions. Mr: Fisher is giying a
'ecture -in phonetics and Mr.
Parsons is speaking about how to
<4et better oral participation from
'students in Music. Mrs. Kirkby is
having a workshop on teaching
ideas for. History. This may be a
work day for teachers but it's a
Holiday for students. This im-
proves the students' spirits.

Speech, Speech, Speech!
It's that time of year again
when all grade 4-8 students will
have to get own to work and
prepare a speech. The speeches
are to be three' to five minutes
long and the topics can be almost
anything except religion and
politics. This week all the classes
are preparing their speeches for
the finals on February 10th, 1976.
So Good Luck on your speeches.

Art. Slides
Ori January 22nd, Mr. Cober,
the Art teacher at Howick Central
School showed some slides on
work done by pre-school to
College people and froin children
in Social Developinertt Centres.
Mr. Cober talked about art and
the use of different techniques
develop as the age increases. He
also showed how young children
concerti themselves with faces
and not the body and showed that
large crowd attended the special
service followed by lunch.
The U.C.W. have purched the
Observer on the Family Plan and
are sending a copy to each family
of the congregation.
Anniversary speakers were ,
suggested and the morning
church time is still 11 45a.m.
followed by a discussion.
Jack McEwing moved a vote of
thanks to Rev. Baker for his
leadership since coming to this
charge. He replied thanking!
everyone for his heart warming
welcome, his holiday break is
undecided.
Personals
Mrs. Phyllis Dunk spent a few,
days last week at the home of her,
son David Dunk and family in
Euchre held
The Friday night euchre was
held in the community Hall, the
attendance was down on account
of the' cold weather and heavy
;now, six tables were in play.
Prize winners were High Lady,
Mrs. Hugh Rinn, Belgrave, Low
ady, Mrs: Laverne Godkin. High
man, Stewart Humphries, low
man, Harold Bolger. Lucky cup,
Mr.s. Laverne Godkin. The next
euchre. is schedules to be held in
two weeks.
LunCh was served by the
committee of Mrs. Ron Bennett,
Mrs. Frank Kirkby, Mrs. Stewart
Humphries and Mrs. Don McDo-
nald in charge.

joyed by everyone and we found it

Exams
The moment all grade 7 and 8
students dread comes on Feb.
1.6th, and lasts right through to
February 24th. If you are guess-
ing that the moment we dread is
exam time, you are positively
right. All students will be writing
Math, English, French, Geo-
graphy, Science, and History.

One, two three, four, who are
we for? For Howick, Howick Boys
Volley Ball team. Yes, our boys
Volley Ball Team won four game
out of five' against Grey Central
on Monday; January 21st. Our
boys were full of confidence when
they departed from Howick Cen-
tral and full of pride when they

Music Night 76
On February 24th, there is
going.to be a Music Night held at
Howick Central School. This is
your chance to show your talents
in a group or as a soloist: This
year there is going to be fifteen
acts. So get organized and contact
Mr. Parsons for an audition: I
hope this year's Music Night will
be a success. With the work of the
students and a good audience,
I'm sure it will be. So come on out
to Howick. Central on February
24th and make Music Night 76 a'
