Despite the blustery cold weat-
her the Walton Unit held their
first meeting of the New'Year in
the church basement on Wednes-
day evening, January 14th.
Mrs. Frank Kirkby opened the
devotions with the Call to. Wor-
ship, Mrs. Harold Bolger led in
prayer. Hymn, Worship the King
was sung accompanied by the
pianist, Mrs. Ray Huether. Psalm
693 from the hymnary was read in
unison. Mrs. Kirkby read the
scripture from 1st John verses 1-4
and 1418 followed by meditation.
Mrs. Bolger led in prayer, closing
with the Lord's Prayer in unison.
Mrs. Kirbky gave a reading, "An
Open letter to God”. Hymn,
"Love divine, all love excelling"
closed this part of the meeting.
Mrs. Mark Sholdice gave a very -
interesting topic on the. Mission-
ary, Dr. Florence Murray, who
worked in Korea during the war
1950-1953. The Koreans are a
distinguished group, they have
developed their own culture.
Their main foods are rice and
fish, they have been invaded
many times. Dr. Murray was a
Canadian Florence Nightingale
when she worked in Korea. A
missionary with lots of adventure.
The new president, Mrs. Herb
Traviss msided for the business.
Mrs. Howard Hackwell read the
minutes and the roll call was
answered by 19 members. Mrs.
Ralph Traviss gave the quilt
report, with the prices, for
quilting to be left the same as last
year. The new small hymnarys
are to be purchased in memory of
the date Mrs. Marks. Several
thank you notes were read,
Announcements of interest from
the last general meeting were
given out. The executive 'meeting
to be held on Monday February
2nd with the Presbyterial Annual
Meeting at Brucefield United
Church changed to Tuesday Feb.
3rd. The, offering was received by
Mrs. M. Sholdice followed by the
treasurers annual statement of
the past ' years work. The
membership fees of .50 cents was
collected.
It was voted tolia.ve a Bakeless
Bake -ale this April. Plans were
made for the lunch to be served
by the Walton Unit at the Annual
meeting, following the morning
church service on this coming
Sunday. The meeting closed with
the Mizpah benediction followed
with lunch served by Mrs. Edna
Hackwell, Mrs.' R. Achilles and
Mrs. T. Diindas.

Congratulations to Mr. William
Bennett who celebrated his 90th
birthday on Tuesday January 20.
We are glad to hear Mrs. Jean
Miller is home again from Sea-.
forth Community Hospital.
Neil Mitchell, soh of Mr, and
Mrs. Emerson Mitchell returned
home from Wingharn Hospital
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Huether, Steven and
John, were Mr. and Mrs. 'Mark
Webster and Mary Ellen of Varna
and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Holmes,
Danny; Mary and Margery and '
Mr. and Mrs. Watson Webster all,
of Clinton,
where he spent several days
followhig an appendicitis opera-
tion.
The Institute card party will be
on this Friday night at the hall if
the weather man co-operates.
Come and enjoy a good game of
euchre.

World Day of
Prayer planned.
The January meeting of the 8th
and 16th Unit was held on
Thursday afternoon at the home
of Mrs. Bob McDonald.
Mrs. Rae Houston presided for
the devotion reading a verse on
Open the Year. Hymn 205 frOm th
New .Hymn Book was read in
unison. Seripture was taken from
Paul's letter of the Ephesians,
Chapter 5, verses 14-20. Mrs.
Houston read a short ineditation i-
Pressed for time" followed by.
prayer, also read a poem,
"Money is Time". The topic was,
"Is our money Or time in action at
home and abroad", giving us an
idea of all the things we support
through the M&S Fund. The
hymn, "Take my life, and let it
be" was sung closed' the devo-
tions with prayer.
Mrs. Alvin McDonald chaired
the business portion. Minutes
were approved as read. Nine
members answered the roll call.
Menibership fees were collected
also regular collection and trea-
surer's report given.
Announcements of interest
were given out. Rev. Baker to
speak at our World Day of Prayer
on March 5, It was decided to
hold the annual ham supper at the
Church, date set for June 8th with
further particillars later,
The hostess and Vera McDon-
ald served lunch.
