This will mean an increase of approximately $4.30 a month on a typical farm customer's monthly bill of $33.70. The percentage increase to individual customers will vary, depending on consumption and class such as residential,' farm or cottage. Details of the rate increase are being mailed to rural customers early in January. In mid-December, Ontario Hydro announced a 22 per cent increase in wholesale power rates to it's 353 municipal and 102 direct industrial customers, effective January 1. Hydro. Chairman Robert B. The new wholesale rates are expected 3 to increase the monthly bill of a typical residential customer of a municipal utility by approximately 13.9 per cent over a 12-month period. By comparison, the new rates to rural customers are slightl :y higher to recover the 1976 increase over 11 month's. Bills issued to Ontario Hydro rural customers after February 1 will be pro-rated using 1975 rates from the meter reading in 1975 to January 31, -1976 and the new rates 'thereafter.
