A number of skaters from the
Brussels Figure Skating Club
competed with some 500 other
skaters this past weekend in
London at the Western Ontario
Invitational Competition.
Catherine Cardiff and.Carol
Wheeler took first place to win a
Gold Medal in Ladies dance pairs.
In Ladies Novice Blue Events,
Catherine Cardiff placed 4th in
free skating and came up with 3rd
place for a bronze medal after
figures.
In Ladies Pre-Novice Blue
Events, Carol Wheeler placed 5th
in free skating and came up with
2nd place for a silver medal after
figures.
In Mens' Pre-Juvenile Blue
Events Kevin Wheeler free
skated to 3rd place and of .ter
figures was 4th.
In the above blue events the
skaters must place in the top five
places in order to do figureS.
Michelle McCutcheon and.
Leanne Cossitt were' also in the
blue events and skated very: well,
just missing the finals by one
placing.
They both placed 6th in free
skating.
Several other skaters from the
Brussels Club also skated in the
green events - which is for skaters,
who have never been in compe-
tition. They were Karen
Alexander, Jill McCutcheon and
Bonnie/ Evans and Cincy Evans
and. Chris Cossitt. These sk aters
did not place in the top five but
did skate very well.
Chris Cossitt also entered the
Pre Juvenile ,Mens Green Figure
Event and came in for a silver
medal.
Also on Sunday, Dec. 14
several Brussels skaters tried
C.F.S.A. tests at Walkerton and.
successful were: Dances - Jarie-t
Shanks - Dutch Waltz; Karen
Johnston Canasta; Ann .
Kernaghan - Canasta; ipatricia
