EUCHRE, FOR A GOOD CAUSE — A large crowd
turned out to play euchre in Walton Friday night at a'
benefit for Mr. and Mrs. Ken Williamson and Mr.
and Mrs. 'Hugh Johnston who lost their barns in
October fires. Playing at this table are, left, Mrs.
Josephine 'Marks, Mrs. Rose Ryan, Mrs. Olive
Dundas, Mrs. Tennie Achilles and .Mrs. Grace

A' surprise party was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson
Reid, on Tuesday November 25,
for Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ryan,
McKillop Twp., prior to their
moving to their new home in
Clinton.
The evening was spent in
playing progressive euchre fol-
lowed by pictures shown by Lloyd
Walker.
Winners in the euchre were:
High lady, Mrs. Marion Sholdice,
low Mary Alice Ryan. High man,
On Friday evening, November
21st a benefit euchre was held in
Walton Community hall for Mr.
and Mrs. Hugh Johnston and
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Williamson
who lost their barns .recently by
fire.
There was a large crowd when
18 tables of euchre were in play
while others visited during the
evening.
' Prize winners were High lady;
Mrs, R. Marks, low lady; Mrs.
Charles Terpstra. High man;
bonald McDonald, low Man;
Terry Smith. Prior to lunch Fred
Uhler read the following address:
Dear` Hugh and Melinda,
Ken aiid Anne:
When the barn of one of our
neighbours catches fire, the fir .st
reaction of everyone is alWays to
run over and try to help save as
much as possible. Usually there is
very little anyone can do.
We stand by the ruins and we'
realize that a lot of work has gone
up in flartieS,
That we have lost a source of

Mrs. Archie Somerville (playing
as a man) and Archie Somerville
was low man. An Address ,was
read by Mrs. L. Walker and Mrs.
Reid presented Mr. and Mrs.
Ryan with a wall clock.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Ryan spoke
and made a fitting reply. Lunch
was served at the close of a, most
enjoyable evening. r•
Euchre Held
There were tables in play at
the progressive euchre on Friday
evening, held in the Walton
Community Hall.
Prize winners were: High lady,
burns also we thought the rest of
us should try and compensate
you, Hugh and Melinda, Ken and
Anne, in some way for your
losses.
That is why we are here
tonight. and we would like you to
accept these envelopes along with'
our best wishes.
Signed on behalf of your
friends and neighbours.
Martin Baan presented Mr.
Johnston and Cliff Ritchie pre-
sented Mr. Williamson with an
envelop of money of behalf of
their friends neighbours and
relatives. Both Mr. Johnston and.
Mr. Williamson said thanks for
the generesity and kindness of
everyone.
