Institute Grace preceded the smorgasborg meal at 7p.m. Mrs. Laverne Godkin was pianist. Walton I 4H club "Dough Girls" had an exhibit, "Breakfast Breads" on display. Their leaders were Mrs, Kathy Achilles and Margaret Shortreed, commenta- tor was Margaret Shortreed. This being the Family and Consumer Affairs meeting, the convenor, Mrs. Keith Rock had ; as their guest her brother, John Rinn of Belgrave who showed interesting slides of places across Canada and local' pictures. He was thanked by Mrs. Gerald Watson and presented with a gift on behalf of the W.I. A profitable penny auction was held which proved interesting for 4,,611-1E. BRUSSELS 'Patti, NOVEMAER16. 'On 'N4 Boundary, 17thmeets The Boundary and 11th Unit of the U.C.W. met on Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Roy Williamson. Mrs. Bill Murray opened the meeting with the Thought for the; Day. The scripture was read from Psalm 46 followed by prayer by Mrs. ,Murray. Hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers" was sung. The offering was received , and dedicated with, "We give thee but thine' own." Mrs. Barry Hoegy gave a very timely Topic. "He died for me" and In time of Remembrance. Mrs. Martin Baan presided for the business. Minutes were read by Mrs. Harold McCallum, fol- lowed 'by the roll call. U.C.W. calendars were handed out. No further business the meeting was closed with Prayer. A social half hour followed during lunch served by Mrs. Murray and the hostess. Melville to sing carols Melville Guild met Tuesday, November 18th in the church parlour and opened with a poem "In Flanders Fields" as read by Brenda Perrie. The scripture read in unison from Mark 8, verses 34-38, was followed by a talk on "Remembrance & Sacrifice." Mrs. Rose Marie Bishop lead in prayer and this portion of the meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction. Mrs. M arg McCutcheonw presided for the business which included further discussion on the possibility of a beef barbeque. Group two is to be responsible for the refresh'-.nts served after Sunday morning worship for the month of Decemlier. The group decided to cater to a wedding reception in May 1976 to be held in Atwood Community Centre. On Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 P.M. the members will be singing carols at Callander Nursing Home. The regular Christmas meeting will be held Dec. 16 in church parlour with a gift exchange. Mr. Jerry Achilles and son Bill of Ithaca, New York State spent a recent weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Achilles. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Achilles and daughter Debbie of Fergus spent Sunday at the same home of his parents. Miss Evelyn Hupfer of Wing- ham is visiting with her. sister, Mrs. Charles McCutcheon,' McK illop Twp. The Friday night euchre this week will be convened by Mrs. Dave Watson, Mr's. Norman Schade, Mrs. James McDonald and Mrs. Nelson Marks. Mr. and Mrs. David Allison of London visited Sunday with Mrs. Walter Broadfoot. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McMillan of Seaforth also visited at the same home during On Friday evening, November 21st a benefit euchre was held in Walton Community hall for Mr.• and Mrs. Hugh Johnston and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Williamson who lost their barns recently by fire. There was a large crowd when 18 tables of euchre were in play while others visited during the evening. Prize winners were High lady; Mrs. R. Marks, low lady; Mrs. Charles Terpstra. High man; Donald McDonald, low man; Terry Smith. Prior to lunchifred Uhler read .the following address: Dear Hugh and Melinda, Ken and Anne: When the barn of one of our .neighbours catches fire, the fir 'st reaction of everyone is always to run over, and try to help save as much as possible. Usually there is very little anyone can do. We .stand by the ruin's and we realize that a lot of work has gone the weekend. Mrs. Gordon Mitchell of Lis- towel was guest soloist at the morning service at Duff's United Church, Walton. At the executive U.C.W. meet- ing at the church on Monday afternoon it was decided to have, the general meeting on December 3rd at 7p.m. as a pot luck supper with all units to attend this Christmas meeting. MINISTRY of HOUSING There were eleven 4H clubs took part in the Ethel. Area, Achievement Day, on Saturday; for the fall project "Lets Bake Bread". Three clubs from Walton' participated in the days activities. In the afternoon program, Walton I "Dough Girls" had an exhibit-"Breakfast Breads" with commentator-Margaret Shortreed. Walton II "Rise 'N Shines" put on a Skit "Mr. Dough Boy Visits Granny" with all members partic- ' ipating. Walton three "Doughy Dollies" had an exhibit. Mary Alice Ryan was the commentator. Mrs. Anne Donohoe, Foods specialist, Home Economics Branch, Toronto gave "comments on Exhibits. Comments on Dem- onstrations and skits were given by Miss Lois Ferguson, Regional Supervisor of Home Economists, Eastern Ontario. County Honours on the comple- tion of six clubs were awarded to Diana Godkin, R.R.1, Walton, Margaret Shortreed R.R. 1, Wal- ton, and Kim Humphries;„ of Walton, were presented with Provincial Honours on the com- pletion of twelve clubs. Jane Pengily home economist for Huron County also made the presentation of certificates and spoons.
