CARVE THAT TURKEY — Mr. and Mrs. Allan Searle carved enough turkeys to
last them until this time next year, as they got ready to feed the crowds at the Duff's
United Church turkey supper in Walton, last Wednesday night. They carved, and
customers ate, 24 turkeys ranging iri size from 25 to 30 pounds. (Photo by Langlois)
Cranbrook
bazaar is
success
The Bazaar sponsored by the
Ladies Aid of Knox Presbyterian
Church on Saturday afternoon
was well attended and the many
things for sale were, soon
disposed of. A social time was
enjoyed over a lunch of
homemade fruit bread, cheese,
tea and coffee.

Mr. and Mrs. Whalen who have
moved from Waterloo .to the
farm they purchased from Donald
Cotton.,
Mrs.Claire Long and Mrs. Mac
Engel accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Key s, R.R.1, Seiforth on a
trip last week when they visited
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smalldon, St.
Johns, Mich. and Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Smalldon, Petersburg,
Indiana. They saw their first snow
of the season at Sarnia on October
30.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn spent
several days in Bloomingdale at
the home of Mr. and Mr.s Don
Mr. Carman Fischer and Miss
Evelyn Barton, Re;xdale, visited
on the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs, Stanley Fischer.
Mrs, Douglas Purdy returned
home from Stratford Hospital by
ambulance on Nov. 3 following
surgery on her back. Recent
visitors at the Purdy home Were
her mother, Mrs. Jennie Stuart,
Bobcaygeon, Mr:' and Mrs, Joe
Stuart and Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Stuart, Lindsay.

The WI's Agriculture and
Candian Industries meeting eas
held November 4 at the. Cran-
brook Community Hall with hus-
bands and guests from the
community. The meeting opened
in the usual way with Mrs. Clare
Veitch presiding for a short
business session. The minutes of
the previous meeting were read
and approved. The treasurer's
report was presented by Mrs. Jim
Hart.
It was decided that the short
course "Salute to Vegetables"
would begin\Thursday, November
13 at 8:00p.m. in the Cranbrook
Hall and probably continue for
three Thursday evening sessions.
Mrs. Lefor and Mrs. Strickler are
the leaders. •
• The Community Christmas
Concert has been moved to
December 12th. It will replace the
December meeting and members
are reminded of their 'responsi-
bility for program numbers. Santa
Claus will be iti attendance with
treats for the children but no gifts
will be distributed.
The 4H Achievement bay will
be November 22 at Grey Central
Public School.
The collection and pennies for
friendship were taken. Mrs. Lefor
presided for the remainder of the
meeting. The roll call "What part
of fa,rming should a housewif
do?" was answered by 11 men•
bers and 8 guests.
Mrs. Cox • read a most appro
priate article to illustrate th
motto "Be proud or your far
heritage and have faith in th
future."
Mrs. Lefor introduced th
guest speaker, John Houghton,
sales representative with Unite
Co-operatives of Ontario, Lis
towel Branch. Mr. Houghto
traced the history of co-operativ
as well as outlining the service
and benefits to be obtained fro
U.C.O. A question and answ
session was enjoyed by everyone
A memento from U.C.O. wa
distributed to everyone present.
Mrs. Strickler thanked th
speaker and presented him with
gift. Lunch was served by Mrs.
Ross Knight, Mrs. W. Strickle
and Mrs. W. Bremner.
The meeting closed by singin
