THE eRussgm POM NOVEMBER I2, •1975 NdVember 4 -- By Joe Smulevitz Unusually mild mid-fall Weather continued over, the region. Many localities in southern Ontario report ed record or near record breaking temperatures. Readings were 8 to 10C above n ormal (14 to 18F). Our immediate area recorded temperatures in the upper teens with sunny skies. :The mild weather can be attributed to a stationery high pressure area over North CarOlina which gave prevailing winds from a southerly quadrant. These winds pumped warm moist air into southern Ontario. Arctic air was unable to penetrate into the region as the high kept cold air far to the north. The southerly flow of mild moist air continued for the weekend with overcast skies developing . Precipitation preceded a cold front which moved through the area..The cooler air lifted the warmer air to great heights creating a few thundershowers. Moving to a position south of the region the cold air retreated and became a. warm warm front. Expansion and cooling of the warm air caused light precipitation. Frontal fog was, formed ' by northward movement of the warm air over colder ground. Cold polar air to the northwest advanced into southern Ontario on Monday. The colder air brought brief heavy showers. Strong surface winds were associated with the cold air. The extended outlook indicates cooler temperatures than last week, b,ut near normal for this time of year. Precipitation can be expected for the middle of the week, Pounds are sneaky. They sneak op.
