Mrs. Jae Walker
e full Thank offering meet-
of the W.M.S, was held in the
Tuesday evening of last
k. Mrs. Glenn Golley opened
the meeting with the call to
worship, and "I to The Hills" was
sung. Mrs. Golley welcomed the
visitors from 'Gorrie W.M.S, and
Bluevale U.C.W.
The scripture and •the medita-
• tion,' '"fhanksgivtng". were
given by Mrs. Keith Moffitt,
after whiCh she offered prayer.
The audience was favoured by
two solos, "Bless This House"
and "Fill My Cup, Lord" by Paul
Moffatt of Bluevale.
After a short business period
offering was Teceived by Mrs.
Gordon Mundell and Mrs. Harvey
Robertson ads dedicated by Mrs.
Golley. -
Mrs. Golley introduced the
guest speaker, Captiart Bruce
Hardy, Wingham, Salvation
Army Citadil.
Captain Hardy spoke on his
work with the Salvation Army and
related the many problems of the
world today to solutions found
from verses he quoted from the
scripttire. The keen incentive that
drew him to work with the army
was' his work with underprivi-
leged children in British Colum-
bia, his home Province. It was a
most challenging and satisfying
task.
Salvation Army work is chang-
ing very rapidly because of
changing times. They have to
change their approach because of
the different types of problems.
Captain Hardy was stationed in
Thunder Bay before coming to
Wingham, where his main job
was working with drug addicts.
Three major problems facing
society today are drug addicts,
astrology -and witch craft. These
are' all props, stimulants or
crutches people use to try to have
a better life. he said. Underneath
they have serious problems and
must deal with these problems
face to face immediately and get
to the root of them. Throw away
these crutches and the answers
are in the scripture, He Stated
physical surroundings are strong
to most of us, even when created
in God's image, but we are empty
spiritually unless God is in us.
Mrs. Wm. Elston thanked
Captain Hardy and presented him
with a gift in appreciation, After
the hYrntl "0 Lamb of God Still
'Keep Me," the Lord's prayer was
'repeated in unison. A social hour
followed and lunch was Served by
the ladies of the church.
