Industrial aresseis, Ont. — Ph. 887-9140 1Prop. WAYNE GRUBB.' Each school year, there comes a time for the most dreaded things. Thisis tests; this has been christened, "The Time of the Terrible Tests". The exams are bad but the tests are murder. In October the teachers are handing them out with a smile on their face. The teachers most common expressions are: "What's the matter?. 2. "They're easy." That is very very easy for them to say as they don't have to do them on such short notice. So to the students I say, "Don't worry, maybe Mr. Brain, will come to your rescue in the time of need." Patricia Burbidge Chocolate Bars TheS-Mdents Council at Howick Central are very pleased with the sale of all the 200 dozen chocolate bars. Due to the great demand for more bars the Students Council ordered 60 dozen more which should arrive very shortly. If y ou still wish to purchase one of these chocolate bars, see any student that attends Howick. Central School. Gary Douglas Conserving School Supplies This year, school supplies have been hard to get because of the sky-high prices. Mr. Robertson only receives a certain amount of money .from the School Board to buy supplies each year. So, we are trying to be more economical. Students are allowed only six pencils each year (two per term;, one eraser and a ruler. We just have enough text books for a class set of 36. Paper must not be wasted, so we have in our class a scrap paper pile. , Work books need every space filled which means work should be neatly completed. Inflation sure make, things difficult. Marlin Good Kindergarten Attendance In Howick Central School we have an attendance award system. The way it works, is the class haVing the best attendance per month wins the attendance award. Ea,eh child and the teacher is awarded with an icecream bar. The winner of September's award went to the Kindergarten Class, Room 2A. The teacher of this class which is Mrs. Underwood, is very pleased with the attendance percentage which was 99.65%. This is the highest percentage received in Howiekcentral's Kindergarten classes. Patricia Burbidge Fall Fair On Saturday,Qctober 4,.Howick Central School and Turnberry Central School celebrated their school fair, This fair was not a big one but it was enjoyed by most of the people that attended it. There was a stand where you could get apples and apple cider. There was a dumping machine, where you would use a ball to hit a target and a man or a woman would fall into the water. At the fair such articles as art, essays, posters, writing and printing samples, and many more articles were entered, and many Howick students have their pockets full of prize money this week.
