membership at the Cranbroolc
Community Hall on September 9
to celebrate the 25th anniversary
of the formation of the Cranbrook
Women' S institute.
Following dinner catered by the
Brussels Majestic W.I. Mrs. C,
Veitch, President, welcomed the.
guests and. Mrs. Wm. Bremner
thanked the Brussels ladies who
catered. Mrs. F, Workman
introduced the head table guests.
Mrs. C. Sothern of Fordwich and
Mrs. Jas, Armstrong, Sr, of
Brussels were both' present as
district representatives at the first
Cranbrook W.I. meeting. Mrs.
Isabel Heuther, Mrs.C. Steffler,
Mrs. Russ Knight and Mrs. M.
MacDonald, are all 25 year
members who are presently
active in the W.I. Also at head
table were Mrs. C. Veitch,
President; Mrs. Jas. Hart,
Treasurer; Mrs. F. Workman,
Secretary.
Mrs. J. Cox and Mrs. G.
Knight presented each of the 25
year members with a crystal bud
vase and china rosebud as a token
of their faithful servide. Mrs
Gordon Engel supervised the
taking of many ' group pictures
which may be ordered from Mrs.
Engel.
The meeting re-convened with
additional guests for the evening
program which was planned by
Mrs. Wm. Bremner and Mrs. G.
Engel.
Mrs. C. Veitch welcomed all
the guests. Mr s. M. Macintosh
brought greetings from the
former members. Mrs. Freeman,
District 1st Vice-President read a
letter of congratulations from
Mrs. Allan,District President.
Mrs. C. Sothern and Mrs. Jas.
Armstrong both related their
memories of the first Cranbrook
W.I.meeting.
Mrs. W. Strickler presented an
extremely interesting history of
the Cranbrook W.I.
Mrs. Veitch read a poem "They
Ar e Not Dead" in memory of
past members and two minute
silence was observed.
Miss Karen Cox, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. Cox presented a
lively step dance number.
The singing group "The
Entertainers", Mary Ellen
Knight, June Williamson, Pat
MacDonald and Jane Leeming
sang several numbers to their
own accompaniment.
Mrs. G. Engel introducOd
"Mary" of Mary's Sewing Center
in Clinton who gave an
interesting talk and demon-
stration on sewing with stretch
fabrics, She also presented a
fashion show of stretch fabric
garments and lingerie with the
help of several ladies and three
local girls. Mrs. Wm, Bremner
thanked her.
Sharon, Roseanne and Tracy.
Engel with Bernice Van
Donkersgoed sang for the group.
Mrs. Leslie Knight expressed
the W.I. member's thanks to the
guests for their help in making
the anniversary a success and
invited everyone to refreshments,
which included an anniversary
cake, as a fitting close to the
evening.

THE ANNUAL MUNICIPAL
ENUMERATION
IS UNDER WAY
The annual municipa! enumeration began on Friday, September 19, 1975
and will continue this week. This municipal enumeration is separate and
distinct from the recent provincial enumeration which was conducted for
the provincial election. During the week, an enumerator, carrying a proper
identification card, will call at your residence for a few minutes to check
basic information required in determining:
• the allocation of education property taxes between the public and
separate school systems;
• the distribution of provincial grants to local governments to help reduce
local tax bills;
• the preparation of jurors' lists; and
• population information needed for other municipal programS.
The enumerator must record such information as the name, age, property
status (e.g. owner or tenant), school support and residency of all mem-
bers of the household.
When the enumerator visits, please check that the information on the
Enumeration Notice is correct. If it is not, revise it and verify the changes.
If you are not horrie, a Notice will be left for you. If changes are necessary,
please make them and mail the Enumeration Notice in the self addressed
postage prepaid envelope accompanying the Notice. For any additional
information, please contact the local assessment office.
