Members were asked what improvement' should be made to the cemetery and 'one suggestion was to have proper gates to the entrance. Mrs. Jim Armstrong was hos- tess for the September meeting of the Bluevale Women's Institute on Wednesday'. afternoon. The meeting was opened in the usual manner and Mrs. W. Stamper, President, welcomed those present. A special guest at the meeting was Mrs. Malcolm Allan of Wroxeter, District President. Mrs. Chas. Mathers reported on the 4H Garden Club completed this summer and several ladies commented on a very successful Achievement Day held at Howick Community Centre. Mrs. Stamper will be a dele- gate to the Area Convention to be .held in Atwood on October 1 and 2. Mrs. Chas Mathers is an alternate delegate. A gift is being prepared for the gift stall. Resolu- ' lions which may be brought up .at the convention were discussed and it was agreed that the delegate would use her own judgement regarding these. The Huron County Rally will be held. in Belgrave .on October 6 with delegates Mrs. Jim Johnston and Mrs. Wm. Peacock attending Mrs. Harvey Timm, Convener of Cultural Activities gave the motto, "Age is a state, of mind" and a poem "The Galvanized Tin Tub". The Roll Call was answered by "a habit my husband dislikes" Mrs. Timm introduced MrS. M. Allan who spoke on Membership and what it can do' for self development. She also read a poem, "If you think it's all in a state of mind". • Mrs. Stamper thanked her and presented her with a gift. Mrs. Allah had a display of crafts with her. Mrs, Timm demonstrated glass cutting and had several finished products on hand. Miss Elizabeth Annstiong entertained the ladies with . a piano selection. Mrs. Armstrong and her daughters and Mrs. Mathers served lunch, The October meeting will be held in the Community Hall on Oct, 8 at 8 p.m, With Mr, Ian beslauriers as guest speaker. Slides will be shown and everyone is welcome. Ohm* visited with Mr. and Mrs. Elliott on Thursday evening. Congratulations to Mr. and. Mrs. Hans Verbeek, nee Debbie Timm who were married in Bluevale Presbyterian Chruch on Friday evening. A reception was held in the Howick. Community Centre. Sunday visitors with. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall were Mr. andd Mrs. Wm. Hall of Chatham, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott and family of Newton and Mrs. Jack Hall, Debbie and. Dianne of Brussels. Weekend visitors of Mrs. Ross Mann were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taw's of MisSisSauga. The market at Brussels Stockyards last Friday was very active with steady prices. There were very few choice steers and heifers on offer with a heavier supply of Medium cattle. Choice Steers - 51.00 to 53.00 with sales to 53.35. Good Steers - 49.00 to 51.00. Two steers consigned by W,m. Young of Blyth averaging 1155 lbs. sold for 53.35. Six steers consigned by • Ron Kaufman of Clifford averaging 1128 lbs. sold for 51.80. A Holstein steer consigned by Keith Johnston of Bluevale weighing 1260 lbs. sold for 44.25. A steer consigned by Ross. Durnin of R.2, Lucknow, weighing 1100 lbs. sold for 51.75. A heifer consigned by Carl Gowing of Bluevale weighing 990 lbs. sold for 48.00. A heifer consigned by Ross. Durnin of R.2; Lucknow weighing 910; lbs. sold for 47.75. Choice Cows - 25.00 to 28.00 with sales to 28.50. Good Cows 22.00 to 25.00. Top Bulls traded from 25.00 to .27.40 with sales to 30.00.
