Joyce graduated in the spring from Fanshawe College in early Childhood Education. Trinity Anglican Church celebrates Centennial. A memorable occasion was celebrated on Septemer 7, when the congregation of. Trinity Church celebrated 100 years since the' consecration of the church building in 1875 with a capacity' attendance of present and former members and friends. The resent Incumbent, the Rev. Fred H. Carson, was the officiant. The church was decorated with suit, vegetables and flowers which were placed by Mrs. ben Higgins, Mrs. Louis ayes and Mrs. Joseph Dunbar memory of the Brydges Wiles and by Mrs. Cora McGill n memory of her husband John. so the exterior of the church as brightened with a new coat of aint by Mr. Albert Bacon in eparation for the joyous casion. A new altar cloth and two purificators have been purchased for the church. • Rey. Fred. Carson conducted the Bible Study following which a record of Tennessee Ernie Ford singing hymns was played. A story called' "A GOlden Moment" was read by Mrs. Gladys Van Camp, and poem "0 Master Workman of Mankind" was read by Miss Mary Nethery. Rev. Carson closed the meeting with prayer, grace was sung and lunch served by the hostess. ,Eveniug Unit • 'The Evening Unit met at the home of Miss. Annie Cook with seventeen ladies present. Mrs.. Ross. Higgins" opened the meeting with the worship service. Hymn 1.'0 Lord of Heaven and Earth and Sea" Was' sung, followed by scripture reading from 1 Corinthians, Chap; 1 verses The first fall meeting of the Majestic W.I. was held in the 'library on September 3, with Mrs. Leona Armstrong presiding. After the Ode and Collect, the minutes of the last 2 meetings were read and approved. Plans were completed for the Huronview Birthday celebration on September 24th, when all who are able to go, are to meet at the library corner at 12:45. Mrs. Norman Stonehouse of London spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, Stonehouse also visited with other relatives in the village. Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Armstrong of Thorndale visited on Sunday with Mr. 'and Mrs. Robert Grasby. They - all, attended the 100th anniversary service at. the Belgrave Anglican Church on Sunday morning and also visited with his mother, Mrs. Mary well underway for catering for the Cranbrook Anniversary dinner September 9th. It was decided to enter a display at the Fair. The theme is "Armistice". Any one who has ideas or objects which could be used, please contact Mrs. Glenna Stephens or iMrs. Doris McCall. The Area Convention in at Atwood October 1st, and 2nd. Our voting delegate is Mrs. Wilma 'Hemingway. The Huron Comity Rally is at Belgrave, October 6th. All who can attend will meet at the Library at 9:15 aim. After Birthday greetings were sung Mrs. Donna Knight took charge of the Education and Cultural Activities, program. The, roll call was answered by: "A popular song. from your teens" and showed 20 , members and 9 visitors present. Mrs. Leona Armstrong of Wingham and District Hospital. Mr. and Mrs.Ron Hill, Jeffrey and Richard of R.R.1, Tavistock visited on Sunday with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Procter. They attended the 100th anniversary in the Anglicanchurch. Sunday morning. A number of friends from this area attended the Rlev. and Mrs. Hugh. Wilson's 50th Wedding Anniversary in James Street United Church, Exeter, on Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nelson and Mrs. Mabel Thomas of Mount Forest were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Procter,, Armstrong gave the motto:" "Music is a hobby and a comfort all your life". Mrs. Knight introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Doris McKinley of Zurich, who gave a splendid address on the teachini, of music in Huron County schools She had brought with her many instruments, pictures, films and records, showing the use of these in her work. As she said, "Music for students is 'a learning exper- ience and a lot of- fun." Mrs. Armstrong thanked her sister and presented her with a gift from 'the W.I. Mrs. Eleanor Hemingway announced a 4-day Senior Citizens bus trip to New York State, Total cost $120.00 The Sunshine collection was taken and the meeting closed with: God Save the Queen and Grace. A tasty lunch was served by the Committee. 17- 27 by Mrs. James Coultes. The meditation on Wisdom and Understanding was read by Mrs. Ross Higgins.Hymn "How firm a Foundation" was sung followed by prayer. Mrs. Murray Lougheed announced that plates, hasi notes and Christmas cards are available. Mrs. William Coultes read a letter from Alma College asking the group to sell foil edged roasting bags with" proceeds for Alma College. ' It was decided anyone wishing to purchase the roasting bags leave their order with Mrs. Coultes. Mrs.Harold Vincent had charge of the program • and introduced the study book on Tanzania, China, Cuba and Canada. The October meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. George Johnston. The remainder of the evening was spent packaging hasti notes and cards. Lunch was' served by Miss Anna Cook's group. W.M.S. Meets The W.M.S. met September 4 with nine members and one guest present. Mrs. .Toe Dunbar opened the meeting with hymn "Salvation and Immortal Praise". Mrs. J.C.Mcl3urney read the scripture from Revelations Chapter 3. The meditation, entitled "Jesus - a door to Salvation", was read by Mrs. Victor Youngblut. Mrs. Walter Shortreed led in prayer. Mrs. Dunbar read the story - "Bangledesh - a portrait in Tragedy" from the Reader's Digest. The secretary's report was given by Mrs. J.C.McBurney followed by the treasurer's report given by Mrs. Victor Youngblut. Twenty-three sick and shut-in calls were recorded . For the October meeting all members' are to bring soniething to read, on the Thanksgiving theme. The roll call was answered by a verse on salvation. The meeting ciosed with hymn "We Love the Place 0 God", Personas The September meeting of the Belgrave Women's Ifistititte will be held in the Women's Institute Hall on September 16th at 8115. p,ni. The Cultural Activities Convener iS Mrs. Stewart Procter and has choSen the roll call as follows "Which has More influence on a child's upbringing Heine; Schciel or Church?" Mts. George Michie will given an address. Mrs. H. English of Wingham will give a demonstration of flower arrangements. Lunch committee is Mrs. Stan Hopper, Mrs. Dan Hallahan, Mrs. Nelson Higgins and Mrs. Herb Wheeler. A welcome is extended to all members and visitors to attend this meeting.
