Before lunch was served. Neil
and Nancy were asked to come to
the front when Murray Vincent
read an address and Leonard
Robinson, presented them with a
gift of money.
Both Neil and Nancy thanked
everyone for their gift.
WMS MEETS
The August meeting of the
Belgrave WMS was held at the
home of Mrs. Cliff Purdou.
Dungannon On August 7th with 12
members and five guests present
The president Mrs. Joe Dunbar
opened the meeting with a poem,
"The Love of God" Hymn "Jesus
Keep Me Near the Cross" was
sung. Mrs. G. Fear read the
scripture and Mrs. Dunbar read
meditation, "Gods Love Over
All" Mrs. J. C. McBurney led in
prayer. The topic was given by
Mrs. Garver Nicholson, a story of
Lucy Maude Montomery's life.
The actress married a Presby-
terian minister and her home in
Prince Edward Island was restor-
ed as a museum.
Mrs. Nicholson showed slides
of her home, also pictures taken
in England and Wales.
Dianne Scott and Jean Siert-
sema sang a duet "Little Brown
Church in the Vale".
The secretary's report was read
by Mrs. J. C. McBurney and the
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Victor Youngblut.
The roll call was answered by a
verse on "Love". There were 37
sick and shut-in visits recorded.

Robert Hibberd attended the
Derry Day celebration and parade
in Oshawa, on Saturday, going by
bus from Clinton_.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hibberd
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Gedche of Kurty-
ville.
Rev. Harold and Mrs. Boyd and
family who have been at Ottawa
this past year visited on" Wednes-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Stonehouse. They are making
their home at Nanaimo, B.C.
where Harold will be minister in
the United Church there.
Miss Christine Hill and Mich- .
ael Ramsay of Willowdale were
weekend visitors with her grand-
parents Mr. and Mrs. HaiTy
McGuire. They attended the
MacKay and Leitch wedding in
Wingham on Saturday.
Mrs. Hazel Procter was able to
return to her home on Saturday
after being a patient in Wingham
and District Hospital for a few
weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baker of
Winnipeg, Manitoba spent the
weekend with Mr. Jack Wick-
stead.

Mr. and Mrs. William Gans
and family of Listowel, Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Elliott and Teddy of 7th
of Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Nicholson and family and Mr.
Charles Nicholson gathered at the
Goderich Park on Sunday to
celebrate Mr. Nicholson's birth-
day.
The girls sang "Amazing Grace
accompanied by Dianne on the
guitar. Hymn "Blessed be the Tie
That Binds" was sung.
The meeting was closed with
prayer and the hostess served a
lovely lunch and a social time was.

CHARMER WITH A PROBLEM
Jimmy is a golden-haired, blue-eyed charmer With fair skin,
rosy cheeks - and a problem. Three-year-old Jimmy has a
hearing loss, caused by an injury at five months. Otherwise his
health is good. He is learning to talk with the help of a home
visitor froin the school for the deaf and he is a very vocal child,
even *hen not using words.
Jimmy is cheerful, contented, active and adaptable. He likes
company but can entertain: hirnselif He's a good eater and he
sleeps well.
It is thought that the injury which caused his deafness also
affected his learning ability. He is a slow learner and will need to
surmount his handicall.

Reception
A reception and dance was held
on Saturday evening in the W.I.
Hall in honour of Mr. and Mrs.
Neil Bieman. Music for dancing
was supplied by the Alley Cats.

The August meeting of the
Belgrave A.C.W. was held on
Tuesday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Jack Van. Camp and opened
by singing the hymn "Today thy
Mercy Calls Us."
Miss Mary Isabel Nethery led
in the opening prayers and the
Lord's prayer was repeated in
unison. The scripture was read by
Mrs. Clare Van Camp. The
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Alex Nethery and the
minutes of the last meeting by
Mrs. Clare Van Camp. Plans were
discussed for the church centen-
nial service to be held on
September 7 at 11 o'clock.
The Bible study was conducted
by Rev. Fred Carson. The dues
were paid and the apron and
birthday box passed. The draw
was won by Mrs. Jack Van
Camp.
The roll call was an exchange of
recipes. The program, presented
by Mrs. Alex Nethery, was an
article, "12 reasons for attending
Church", a poem, "The Old-time
Songs" and two contests.
The meeting was closed with
prayer by Rev. Carson, grace was
sung and lunch served by the
hostess.
