New minister inducted

Mrs. Mabel Harris of Lambeth,
Peter Lapkowski, London and
Brian McGavin, Walton are
staying this week at the home of
Mr, and Mrs. Carl Johnston.
Mrs. Fred Ohm and Mrs.
J,J,Elliott spent last week
vacationing with Mrs.Edna
Forbick at Niagara Falls, then all
three flew from Buffalo to
Cleveland While there one of
their days included a tour of the
African Lions Safari, at Toledo.
Mrs. Forbeck brought them part
way home then they were met by
Mr. and Mrs. David Ohm and
' girls. They entertained them at
their home in Waterloo before
bringing them home.
Mr. and Mrs.J.C. Johnston
were in Brantford on Friday
- evening attending the Cardiff-
Pettit wedding. They were
accompanied by Mrs. Laura
Souch and Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Colley.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Peacock,
David of Winona visited with Mr.
and Mrs. W.J, peacock last
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilson of
Fort Frances called on Mr. and
Mr.s J.C,Johnstort one day last
week,
br. and Mrs. Terry Johnston
visited at their parent's home
after returning from their
honeymoon trip spent in Nassau.
Mr. and Mrs. Barry Harris,
Larnbetli visited with Johnston
relatives on Sunday.
An induction Service for the
Rev. Melina Brown, a minister of
Bluevale and Whitechurch
United Church congregatins Was
held in Bluevale United Church,
Thursday evening„litly 3rd.

conducted the service of worship
with itEv. Mr, Robetta bringing
the message and Mrs.• Carol
Canlpbell singing a solo.
The induction service was led by Rev, during Which „r.
sleighthelme of Whitechtirch
ititreduced Miss l'il°ftt.
After the service, the new
minister was introduced to
members of the congregations by
Mrs. Carl Johnston and Mrs.
Chas. Mathers members of
Bluevale session.
During the social h our, and
lunch, which followed, Mr. R.
Fraser, Clerk of Bluevale session,
called on heads of church
organizations, who welcomed
Miss Brown -to church and
community. M rs. J. Nichqlson
represented Bluevale U.0 W.,
Mrs, Moore Whitechurch
and Mr. Garnet Farrier on behalf
of Whitechurch Session.
Miss Moore expressed her
pleasure at being here and looked
forward to her duties in August
when Presbyterian and United
Churches meet in United
Churches, after holding services
in Presbyterian in both Bluevale
arid Whitechurch during July,
Miss_Brown expressed her
pleasure at being with the
congregations and said she was
looking forward to taking up her
duties in August when the Presby
terian and United Churches will
meet M the United Church after
holding services in the
Presbyterian Church during July
in both Whitechurch arid
Bluevale.
On Sunday, June 29th the
congregation of Bluevale United
Church gathered for Larry King's
farewell service. Mr. King, a
student for the ministry has
served in Bluevale for the last two
years.

Breswick joined iri the service,
After Mr. King's talk to the
children, Alan Campbell S.S.
Superintendent, presented him •
with a plaque on behalf of
children, expressing their love
and thanks for his help and
interest,

Doting his sermon Mr; King
spoke of his two years in Bluevale
•
as a learning experience, and
thanked the congregation for its
support.
After the church service
everyone gathered in the Sunday
School room where Mr. Robert
Fraser, on behalf of the
congregation expressed
appreciation to Mr.' and Mrs.
King for their work in Bluevale,
mentioning Mr. King's
challenging sermons and his
ministry in music and song and
wishing him success in his
studies.
Mrs. Audrey Johnston
presented Mr. and Mrs. King
with a lovely oil painting, and
Michael Fraser gave Michael
King a toy dog. Mr. King
expressed their thanks in a few
well chosen words.
Following the presentation,
lunch was served and a social
time spent with the King family
before their departure.
Surprise Party
A surprise party was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick de
Boer for Mr. and Mrs. William de
Vos, to honour them on their 25th
wedding anniversary on July
20th. About 45 friends and
neighbours attended for the
afternoon and the picnic supper.,

In a pretty June ceremony on
Saturay, June 7 at 4:30,
Constance Elaine Mann of
Bluevale and William Peter Taws
of Mississauga were joined in
holy wedlock, REv,'Robt, H.
Armstrong officiated at the
ceremony which was solemnized
in a setting of white shasta daisies
and lighted green and white
candles in candelabra, in
Bluevale's Knox ' Presbyterian
Church.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Ross Mann of Bluevale and
the late Mr. Mann. Parents of the
groom are Mr. and Mrs. Leslie
M. Taws of Mississauga.
Harold. Swatridge of Wingham
was organist. He accompanied
the soloist, Al Blais of Toronto
who sang two songs written by
'the groom for the couple's special
day. "We Will Always Be In
Love" and "The Love We
Know".
Harvey Mann of Waterloo gave
his sister in marriage She was
elegantly gowned in a
floor-length dress of ivory satin
backed crepe. An original design
by Carol Campbell of Lucknow,
the dress was styled with empire
waistline, long sleeves, pintucked
bodice and cuffs and an attached
cape. She wore an ivory straw hat
with ivory satin roses and
Parisian silk veiling. Her bouquet
was a nosegay of dried flowers in
shades of brown, rust and off-
white.
Miss Barb Lillow of Bluevale
was maid of honor and
bridesmaids were Mrs. Margaret
Nieradka of Pyfississauga, Miss
Anne Synnott of Toronto and
Miss Jane Hambley of Hamilton.

Married 40 years
On Sunday afternoon Open
House was held at Brussels
United Church in honor of Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Hoover.
One hundred and fifty
relatives, friends and neighbours
attended to extend
congratulations and good wishes
to Mr. and Mrs. Hoover in
celebration of their fortieth
Wedding. Anniversary.
A pleasant afternoon was spent
renewing friendships with many
old friends.
The afternoon Unit of the
U.C.W. catered for the occasion.
A family dinner was held at the
Turnberry Tavern, Wingham, on
Saturday evening when Mr. and

number of Institutes.
They stressed each and
everyone to write their member of
parliament or Consumer Affairs

Mrs, Brouthon spoke on
International Woman's Year
which was followed by a lively
discussion.

shaped sleeves. Her detachable
cape was brown satin backed
crepe. She carried a small wicker
basket with dried flowers similar
to those in the bride's bouquet.
Joe Bator of Mississauga was
best man and ushering the guests

Mississauga, Bob Gronowski of
Toronto and Har vey Mann of
Waterloo. Master Dennis Henry
of Bluevale was ring bearer.
A reception followed at the
Howick Community Centre. The
bride's mother wore a floor-
length gown of mauve satin
backed crepe with mauve lace
bodice and sleeves. A corsage of
yellow Talisman roses completed
her ensemble. The groom's
mother chose a shrimp coloured
floor-length dress with empire
waistline and open work jacket.
For travelling the bride donned
a floor-length navy jersey dress
with matching jacket trimmed
with white corcheted collar and
cuffs. A white wide brimmed hat
complemented the dress.
Mr. and Mrs. Taws will reside
in Mississauga.
Honored guests at the wedding
were the groom's grandmother,
Mrs. G. Seive of Montreal; and
the bride's grandparents Mr. and.
Mrs. John D. Mann of Clinton
and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hasite of
Gorrie.
Mrs. Norman Hoover of R.R.3
Brussels, were honored guests it
recognition of the 40th
anniversary of their July 11th
wedding in 1935.
Guests from London, Lucan,
Listowel, Brussels and Wingham
were in attendance. Mr. and Mrs.
Dougls Hemingway of Brussels,
who were gromsman and
bridesmaid of the 40 year ago
wedding were also present at the
family dinner,
The guests gathered, after the
dinner, at the home of the
couple's daughter, Marion (Mrs.
Eradie) for an enjoyable social
time.
