Students have school at cam CatherinelCardiff Karen Bridge Dianne Stephenson Elizabeth Exel On May 28 our Grade 8 class of the Brussels Public School set out for our two day camp out at Camp Menesetung , two, and a half miles north of Goderich. When we arrived there we had a tour of the camp headed by Murray Raymond. After our tour we had to organize our cabins. Finishing that task, we ate our lunch and had free time 'till one o'clock when we began our classes. Classes consisted of: geometry, swimming, sand candles, stream study, rock study and tree identification. We finished classes at 5:00 o'clock and went swimming until 5:30. For supper we had a roast beef supper with peas, carrots, poatoes and pies. From 8:00 to 8:30 we went swimming and then went doWn to the beach for a campfire and star study. Our class was divided into groups, which presented skits and roasted marshmallows, Returning from the beach we had a snack consisting of brownies and hot chocolate. Lights were to be out at 11:00. 2nd. day., At 7:00 A.M. most of us went for a polar dip in the pool except for the sleepy heads. Exercises and flag raising were held before breakfast which was in the mess hall. Clean up of the cabins followed breakfast, Nature Craft s, swimming, nature hike, soil study, paper making and orienteering were held from 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 130, At 12:00 1V6 had a cookout. Since all the food had to be used up we ate and drank as much as possible. We had a free period until 1:30, •Often After the classes were over we packed tip and left for home. On, the way home our bus broke down just -outside of Brussels, You are welcomed to come and see our Bulletin Board displaying our activities at camp. We wciind like to thank John Wayne McDonald for giving Its a ride into Brussels in his pick=up` truck. And a very special thatik§ tot the mothers who supplied the extra food, which saved us a lot of money and time. Imtermediate Boys: First Scott -Wheeler, 16; Second, Doug Sholdice, 14; Third, Tim Prior , 10. Senior Boys: First , Jim Adams, 20; Second, Ivan Moran, 18; Third, Brian Scott, 16. Primary Girls: First, June Adams and Brenda Richmond, 13; Second, Gwen Cousins, 6, Third, Kim Bauer, Kim Stephenson, Darlene Freeman & Michelle Vader, 5. Junior"' Girls: First, Teresa Wierenga, 13; Second, Dianne Bernard, 12; Third, Jill McCutcheon, 10. Intermediate Girls: First, Miriam Lichty, 18; Second, Carol Wheeler, 16; Third, Catherine Cardiff, 12. Senior Girls: First , Karen Bridge, 18; Second, Dianne Stephenson, 12; • Third, Sharon Brown, 9. The 'staff expressed appreciation to parents who helped make our Track & Field Day a success. They included Irene Richmond, Elaine Nichol, Betty McCutcheon, Esther McCutcheon, Shirley Wheeler, Isabel Wheeler and Mary Ten Pas.
