The farm and residential rate
rose 11 mills this year in Grey
Township.
Grey Township council fixed
the rate at 31 mills for farm and
residential areas and 36,42 mills
for the commercial rate on
Monday, June 2.
'Clerk Edythe Cardiff said the
increases were due to the cost of
the new fire truck bought by the
council and the new township
garage for the road department.
This rate doesn't include the
county levy and all other
expenses were up this year, Mrs.
Cardiff said.
Not only did council set the tax
rate for property owners, it also
set a rate for dogs.
Dog owners must pay $5.00 for
a male or spayed female, $10 for
the second male or spayed
female, $10 for .one female and
$20 for the second female.

The committee will also seek

its latest meeting.
The flood Plain Committee was
formed last month at a citizen's

were ordered.
The court of revision or council
upheld it's decision on the
assessment of Leo Deitner for the

The next step if he wants to
continue to appeal their decision
would be to appeal to the county
judge, Clerk Cardiff said.

At their most recent meeting
the committee said that the

Charles Thomas, a committee

The selling of tainted meat may
be a problem in the rest ofCartada
but there seems to have been no
problems in Huron County.
The Huron County H ealth Unit
gets the "odd complaint" about
uninspected meat, Jim McCaulof
the HCHU said.
One man claimed the meat he
sold was uninspected only to
convince his customers his prices
were lower, he said.
Mr. McCaul said the health
unit has had no case of
misrepresentation of meat or
horse meat being sold for beef.
In spite of the inquiry raging in
Quebec about the more than 16
million pounds of federally-
inspected horse meat being sold
as beef products, the Huron
County Health Unit had received
no previous calls on the meat
situation in the county, Mr
McCall,' said.
