The story of Maggie and John a Welsh couple portrayed Nothing sets off a house better than a beautiful lawn; and that's what we want you to have. This means a lawn that is properly planted, adequately fed and watered, with weeds always under control. A well fed lawn will produce a strong strand of grass, thick and green, so thick in 'fact that weed will not have a Chance to grow. But if you are just starting to get the lawn you really want, then you might want to rely on a special weed and feed containing Golden. Vigoro that is fast working and long lasting, along with Illex that will control I most of the weeds in your lawn. Be sure to follow the recommend- ations printed on the bag. Crabgrass is an annual weed, not a perennial as so many think it may be, but as the weed goes to seed in the Fall it embeds itself in the lawn. The solution to this problem, and a problem it is, too, '" is Crabgrass Preventer. It kills the crabgrass• seeds just as they start to germinate. Rule of thumb application is to apply just as the lilacs are coming into bloom. In summing up then this is the month to select your plant material from your local estab- lished nursery or garden centre. Why? If the plants you purchase don't grow, you can always return' and ask why. Feed the lawn and apply weed control, and spray trees, shrubs and roses.
