Molly Cox, Norman Speir and Jerry Collins provided the old tyme music for the dancing and sing song. Members of the Gorrie and Wroxeter Women's Institute were hosts for the April birthday party. Mrs.Alex Graham was emcee for the program which included piano and violin duets by Ethel McMichael and Florence Dickison, reading by Wilma: Clegg and a sing a long led by the Institute members. Twenty-nine residents having April birthdays received gifts. The eldest celebrant was Mrs. Mosack ninety-nine and the . youngest Margaret Kahn who thanked the Ladies on behalf of the residents. "The Calvinettes" an organization of thirty-six teen age girls and their Counsellors from the Christian Reformed Church provided a variety program for "Family Night". The program consisted of several musical numbers by the grouP, skits and dances. Counsellors for the girls are Dianne and Joanne Verhoef, Francie Jonge jan, Sandy Maackant, Hilda Gliders, Nellie Dykestra and Chris Bylema. Miss Bertha Deihl expressed the- appreciation of the residents. Members of the Clinton Kinette Club visited their adopted Grandmothers on Thursday morning and served lunch in the north dining room. During this week at HowickCentral the parents are invited to visit the chool on Thursday, April 24 to ee what the students are doing. All of the parents are welcome to attend and go into any room that they want, it doesn't necessarily ave to be their own child's cl6ssrootn. I hope that you could ome and visit us, Tammy Brown Talkers' Club. In Room 16, Mr. C )ber's room, at dismissal time if you talk you an join the. Talkers' Club. But most of the pupils keep their oaths shut because they don't want to join this club. A few that r.Cober catches will have their ames put on the club's corner of the blackboard. They are to go to Room 12 before 9 o'clock to get heir assignment for talking. hen they have to stay in at cesses to work on their ssignment. This is a punishment for talking and this should keep squiet and orderly.! Marlin Good Last Elective Today is the last of the electives or the year. This electiVe was njoyed by:Gary Douglas (editor), arlin Good (co-editor), Michael sley, Donna Forler, Tammy own, and Ben Schuitema who ust joined from the 'Book eading Club.' Everyone enjoyed riting reports and we hope you njoyed reading them. This group orked very hard to get all the eports in to the paper, even hough there were just six of us. Marlin Good Custodian Club At Howick Central School, one tudent from each classroom is elected to serve on the 'Custodian Club". This person is ven the duty of taking out the arbage and generally helping e custodian keep our school can and attractive: These arbage cans after lunch can be ery heavy for some of the indergarten pupils. We give our Mascots plenty of love and understanding which helps their growth. Come and visit Room 13. You'll like it! Donna Forier 43 School Days Left. 43 days! Count 'em! 43 School Days! As of April 24th there are 43 days left of school! Soon all of the students who have been ,studying, worrying, and working will be through for another school year. 43 Days and, OH JOY, 2 whole months of relaxation, bike riding, hiking, swimming, sleepiug, and other enjoyable activities. But what about .the poor staff? They have an extra 3 days of Professional Development , and arranging the 1975-76 classes. But anyway, Yahoo only 43 days of School! Michael Disley Howick VS Grey On Wednesday, April 23, the girls and boys hockey teams played the third floor hockey game at Grey Central. The invincible boLs team won, but what about the girls team? Well, you would think they'd win but unfortunately they 'lost. Mark Harding led the way for the boys' team with two goals. The scores were: 4 to 2 for the Howick boys, 2 to 0 for the Grey girls. There are still a few games left so "Go Goldenhawks, Go!" Michael Disley Spring Concert On Tuesday, April 22, at Howick Central School, a successful Spring Concert was held. The actors and participants had a Dress Rehearsal 'on Tuesday. Some songs sung were: "Delta Dawn", "Old MacDonald's Fa rm" "It's a Small World", and "The Ash Grove." The Grade 5 and 6 gymnastic elective put on an athletic display. The Rooms 4 and 7 pupils wish to thank Mrs. George Hamilton for helping with costumes. We hope the audience enjoyed all the numbers in the program. Ben Schuitema Snoopy This past week at Howick Central School there has been a giant Snoopy. Dog touring the halls and classrooms. Snoopyr,was brought to the school by GAry Douglas to help Miss Amos' class for a draw. Tickets were sold by the students for 25c or 5 for $1.00. The winning ticket was drawn on Friday, April 25. Please see next week's paper for the results. All proceeds from the draw help Us finance our upcoming trip to Ottawa. Gary Douglas The teachers Won 8.3. Everyone enjoyed the exciting game and the costumes that they wore. ******** The grade 8 students who Will be attending Listowel Secondary School went there for a tour on Wednesday, April 23, from 9:00 to 3:30 p.tri. ******41* The students got their very first taste of maple sugar on Wednes., day the 23rd. It was Made by the Grade 8 girls and WAS really delicious. S chool Reporters Joan Cardiff and Cathy Deitner Area Funerals DONALD McKINNON Donald (Danny) McKinnon, a life-long resident of the Brussels community, passed away at Huronview on Saturday, April 19th. He was ninety-one years of age. ' Born in Grey Township, he was the son of the late John and Bridget McKinnon. During his active years he was a farmer and drover in Grey Township. He retired in Brussels where he lived until he became a resident of Huronview seven years ago. He was predeceased by one sister, Sarah McKinnon. One niece, Mrs. Mel Moxness of Ottawa, and a nephew, Bob McKinnon - of Fort William survive. Funeral services are held at 11 a.m. from St. Ambrose R. C. Church, Brussels, on Wednesday, April 23rd with Father Nolan officiating. Temporary entombment took place in Brussels Cemetery Chapel. - Pallbearers were Joe Ryan, Wm. Blake, Joe Cooper, Lawrence Ryan, Jim McQuaid, Ross Deitner. The M.L,Watts Funeral Home was in charge. MRS. M. D. SAUDER Mrs. Mildred Doris Sauder of 21 St. David Street S., Thorold, Ontario, passed away in St. Catharines General Hospital on Saturday, April 19th. The fertrier Mildred Passmore, she was the widow of the late Alvin Sander. She is survived by three sons, Ronald of Mississauga, Grant of Thotold and Oran of Detroit; sister, Mrs. Mae Noble of Streetsville; brother • Roy of Girard, Ohio and eight grandehildren, The late Mrs: Sander was a former resident' of Morris Township at the Oran Russell home on the 5th line. She attended Continuation School in Brussels, Stratford Normal School, then taught school in Morris Township and the surrounding district. Funeral services Were held from the Noble S.
