Mrs. Joe Walker
Mrs. Claretice Henning was
hostess for a miscellaneous
shower for Miss Grace Jeffrey on
Saturday evening.About 20
relatives gathered with good
wishes and gifts to h onor the
bride-to-be, whose , marriage to
Larry Elliott will take place on
May 17. Three contests were
much enjoyed. Mrs. Arnold
Jeffrey and Mrs. Harold Elliott

The ladies of the Presbyterian
Church served a hot turkey dinner
to members of the Bluevale
Women's Institute at their annual
meeting held in the Sunday
School rooms of the church on
Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.
Wendell Stamper, president,
thanked the ladies. Members
revealed their Sunshine Sisters
and sat with them for dinner.
Some suggestions were the
Erland Lee ,Homestead, Niagara
Falls, Art Gallery at Kleinburg,
the Royal Winter Fair and others.
The president announced that
the district annual would be held
in Ethel United Church on May 13
with guest speaker being
Mrs.Clarence Diamond.
Delegates chosen to attend this
were Mrs. Harry Elliott, Mrs. W.
Stamper, Mrs. J.Armstrong and
Mrs. Ken Simmons with
alternatres Mrs. C. Mathers and
Mrs. Murray JenkinS.
Achievement Day for the
Bluevale 4-H Clubs will be held
on June 14 at F. E. Madill
Secondary School.
A donation of money was voted
to the Howick Fall Fair this year.
The membership fees to the
Historical Society. will again be
paid for the curators, Mrs Donald
Street and Mrs. Graham
Campbell.
Mrs, Ken Chambers and Mrs.
Jack Nicholson will be conveners
of the Cancer Society canvass this
year. The key lady of the Bluevale
district is Mrs. C. Mathers. Mrs.
Jim Armstrong commented on
the flower show which will- be
held the evening of May 29 with
the neighboring Institutes
Recent investigations were
carried out by the OPP at
Wingham Detachment include:
Eleven investigations with
eleven persons charged under thr
Liquor Control Act.
Nineteen charges laid and
thirty-three warnings issued
under the Highway Traffic Act.
Thirty-one other investigations
with two Charges laid under the
Criminal Code.
On Tuesday, April 22, Muriel
L. Fox of 121 Confederation St ,
Glen Williams, backed out of a
parked position and struck the left
rear fender of a car owned by
Donald C. Hyde of Stratford,
causing an estimated $275.00
damages. There were no injuries.
On Thursday, April 24; Leo
Selent of R.R.#1, Tiverton was
westbound on Highway 86, east of Highway 87, when a deer
Jumped in front of his vehicle

Sp onsor Surprise Party
A surprise party was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Aart de
Vos on Tuesday evening when
neighbours and friends gathered
to wish Mr. and Mrs. Peter Baer
and family health and happiness
in their new h ome. An address
invited. There will be
demonstrations . on flower
arrangements, sale of plants and
aprons, and other surprises.
Mrs. Wm. de Vos asked the
ladies to cater to a smorgasbord
dinner for their 25th wedding
anniversary on July 25 at the Golf
and Country Club. The ladies
agreed to do so.

elected secretary. Mrs. Ken

Ten members of the Turnberry
Ladies' Aid met at the home of
Mrs. Jack Willitts on Wednesday
for the April meeting. Mrs.
Willitts opened'the meeting with
a scripture reading and mrs.
Glenn Snell read the minutes of
the last meeting and ,the
tresurer's report. The ladies
spent the afternoon quilting.
