A light offering of fat cattle at
Brussels Stockyards Friday sold
at steady prices. There were very
few choice steers on offer, Cows -
sold higher. Pigs were in good
demand. Most of the cattle were
morning cattle due to weather
conditions.. •

East Wawanosh council met on
February 4th in the. Belgrave
Community Centre room with
Reeve Simon Hallahan presiding
and all the members present.
Resolutions adopted included
the following:
-That the Belgrave-Brussels-
Blyth School Fair Board receive a
grant of $50.00 and that the
membership fee of $50.00 be paid
to Ontario Association of Rural
Municipalities.
That Simon Hallahan be
appointed as representative to the
Huron County Farm Safety
Council .
-That Building Permits be
issued to James Taylor for an
implement shed and to Snell Feed
and Supplies for three concrete
silos.
R.T.Orr of Orr Insurance
Agency was present to review
Township insurance.
-That the Municipal Liability
Policy coverage be increased one
million dollars for an addition
premium of $17.52 to cover
addition of an Employer's
Liability protection. Tractor to be
insured at ten thousand dollars.
An All Risk Office Contents
The Afternoon Unit of the
Brussels United Church Women
met at the home of Mrs. W.
Sholdice on February 11th with
twelve members pres-ent and with
14 visitations recorded. Miss
Skelton convened the devotions
with, "Thoughts on Lent''.
Members joined in singing
"When I Survey the Wondrous
Cross" and Mrs. Thomas read
the Scripture from the 26th
chapter of the Gospel of Matthew.
In the meditation on Lent, Miss
Skelton said it is a tittle of
self-denial, self-examination; a
time to ask ourselves the question
- "What do we treasure in life?
Where is that treasure?" Rather
than a time to give up things, the
Lenten Season is a time to take
tip some Worthwhile things, such
as the daily reading of the
Scriptures and fifteen minutes for
Meditation and Prayer. Miss
Lucas said, "Important as it is to

Recent investigations' carried
out by OPP officers at Wingham
Detachment include:
Three charges laid and nine
warnings issued under the
Highway Traffic Act. .
Four investigations with four
persons charged under the Liquor
Control Act.
Eighteen other investigations.
On Monday, February 10,
Robert Young of R.R.3, St ayner
and John Bryans of Brussels were
involved in a collision on County
Road #12 at Hawkes Street in, the
Village of Brussels. There were
no injuries. Damages were
estimated at $830.00.
On Tuesday, February 11,
George A. Newbold of Lucknow
was involved in a single car
accident on Highway 86, east of
Highway 87 when the car he was
driving went onto the north
shoulder and struck a sign post.
„ Damages were estimated at
$45.00.
Guy W. Stroop of R.R.5,
Brusset was involved in a single
car accident on Concession 4-5,
west of County Road 12 when he
struck a pig owned by Wallace
j.Black of RR.5, Brussels.
Damages' to his vehicle were
estimated at $600.00.,
Jean Veitch of R.R.#2, Brussels
was southbound on Sideroad
15-16, south of Concession
11-12, Grey Township when she
skidded and struck a vehicle
owned by Faye L. MacDonald of
R.R.2, Brussels. Damages were
estimated at $450.00: There Were
no injuries.
On Wednesday: February 12,
Evelyn B. Kennedy of Teeswater
was involved in, a single car
accident on Highway 4,
TurnberrY Township when the car
she was driving left the east side
of the road and landed in a ditch.
No one was injured and damages
were estimated at $300.00.
On Thursday, February 13,
1975, Gerald Gibson of Brussels
and Calvin Burke of Wingham
were involved in a° collision on
Highway 4, north of Huron Road
20. No one was injured and
damages were estimated at
$950.00.
On Friday,. February 14, James
C. MacDonald of Lucknow and
Barbara E. Cameron of Wingham
were involved in a collision on
North Street, east of Highway #4.
There were no injuries, and total
damages we're estimated at
$550.00.
On Saturday, February 15,
Alan K. Finlay of Guelph was
involved in a single car accident
on Sideroad 20-21, north of
Concession 5-6, Grey Township
whet the vehicle he was driving
ran into deep snow and slid into a
snowbank. There were no injuries
and damages were estimated at
$400.00:

'The • Minister of Natural
Resources and Murray Gaunt,
M.P.P. have announced the
approval of a provincial grant of
$13,100.00 to the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority for the
Falls Reserve Conservation Area.
This area comprises some 229
acres of land in the Township of
Colborne, County of Huron.
Development, work carried our
since the Area was purchased in
1964 included the provision of
camping, picnicking and fishing
facilities • and development of
nature trails.
During 1975 the - Authority
proposes to expand the camping
area to meet increased demand,.
