In his inaugural address Reeve
Roy Williamson welcomed the
two new members, Mrs. Leona
Armstrong and John Johnston, to
the council.
Recent investigations carried
out by Wingham Detachment
„ OPP include:
One investigation with one
person charged under the Liquor
Control Act.
Ten charges laid with fourteen
warnings issued under the
Highway Traffic Act,
Nineteen investigations with
six charges laid under the
Criminal Code.
On Monday, January Jeff
Jillings of Fordwich was injured
as a result of a two car collision on
County Road #30, north of Howick
Township Road Howick
Township. Jeff was a passenger
in a car driven by Th omas Jillings
of Fordwich. The second vehicle
was driven by Lorne Lambkin,
also of Fordwich. Damages were
estimated at $1350.00.
On Wednesday, January 15,
Jean McDonald of Belgrave was
involved in a single car accident
County Council committees
were named at the first 1975

A 30-month study of 'blood
donor showed that smokers have
excess amounts of carbon
monoxide in their blood. The
researchers questioned the
practice of transfusing blood from
smoking donors to some patients.
Tobacco smoking was the single
most important factor leading to
increased carbon monoxide
levels. Other factors were car
's` exhaust, occupation, and
geographical residence.
The study found that carbon

On Thursday, January 16,
Leslie A. Bates of R.R.#1, Clifford
was involved in a single car
accident on Highway #9, east of
the junction of Wellington-Huron
County Line road. There were no
injuries and damages to the Bates
vehicle were estimated at
$250.00.
Dorothy M. Moore of
Kincardine was involved in a
single car accident on Highway
86, west of the Maitland River
Bridge, Grey Township when the
car she was driving entered the
south ditch and broke a fence
post, then went on through a wire
fence owned by Daniel M. Ross of
R.R.#2, Bluevale. No one was

A pack-a-day smoker had carbon
monoxide levels two to three
times higher than did non-
smokers. Unlike oxygen which is
breathed in and out again in
minutes, carbon monoxide--in the
form of carboxy-hemoglobin --
stays in the blood for hours.
Other studies show there are
increases in carbon monoxide
levels in the blood of nonsmokers
who are in the same room with
smokers. With these raised levels

Clifford Ritchie of R.R.#3,
Walton and Roger McFadden of
Alma, Ontario were involved in a
collision on County Road #12 at
Concession Road 2-3, Morris
Township. There were no
injuries, and damages totalled
$600.00.
On Saturday, January 18,
Andrew Ritskes of Wingham and
Agnes M. Gaunt and an unknown
third vehicle were involved in a
collision on Highway #86, east of
the Junction of Teeswater Roads,
East Wawanosh Township. There
were no injuries, and damages
were estimated at $500.00.
On Sunday,January 19,
Christine D. Gulutzen of R.R.#2,
Brussels, was injured as a result
of a single car accident at Lot 24,
Con. 16, Grey Township, when
the Moto-Ski she was driving
struck a free.

Gillis be paid $4.25 per hour and

paid $4.00 per hour until July 1s;

-That the clerk-treasurer be
paid $6400.00 per year plus $600
mileage for the year 1975.
The salary of the road
superintendent was not settled.
Accounts paid included
General $2,522.83 and roads and
bridges 2,244.14 for a total of
$4,766.97.

On Friday evening there were
nine tables of euchre in play at
the Walton Community Hall. ,

man;. Lucky cup prize went to
Mr. Mel Jacklin, Brussels. There
will be another euchre in two
weeks.

Gordon were in charge of the
evening.

Boundary and 17th Unit Meeting
Mrs. Cliff Ritchie was hostess
for the unit meeting on
Wednesday aft ernoon, January
8th in her home, when eight
members answered the roll call.
Mrs. Hugh Johnston opened
the meeting with the "Thought
for the Day", Hymn, "Pour out
Thy Spirit from on High". Mrs.
Johnston read a poem, "Little
New Year" followed by prayer
and the scripture was read from
John 38: 7 - 28.
Mrs. Jim Williamson chose as
her topic on New Years and
closed with a poem entitled,
"Prayer". Hymn, "Nearer, My
God, to Thee" was sung. The
treasurer gave her report and the
membership fees were taken.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Johnston, Mrs. Williamson and
the hostess. The ladies quilted at
a quilt during the afternoon
8th and 16th Unit
The January meeting of the 8th
and 16th Unit of the U.C.W. was
held on Wednesday evening at
the home of Mrs. Alvin
McDonald.
Mrs. Don Fraser was in charge
of the devotions. Hymn, "In
Christ. There is no East or West"
was sung. Mrs. Fraser read the
scripture from the 4th chapter of
St. Luke followed by prayer.
Mrs. Rae Houston had the topic
