Wawanosh Public School held their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, December 19, at eight o'clock.. Kindergarten presented a play entitled "R uclolph, the Red nosed Reindeer", starring Alison Coultes, Darlene 7`arlow, Debbie Hopper, Sandra Swartzentruber, Kerry Ann Pletch, Ruth Higgins, Katherine Procter, Ellen Taylor, DAvid Johns, Calvin Kuepfer, Shannon Taylor, Tammy Lynn Tilbrook. The toy store keeper was put on by Grade 1 and 2. Featured storekeeper, ballerina doll, clown - Jack-in-the box, cowboys, music box, Mamma, Teddy Bear, Papa and Baby Teddy Bear, Toy Soldiers, Raggedy Ann Doll, Fireman Nurse Doll, Angels. The market at Brussels Stock- y ards Friday was very active in all classes of slaughter cattle and feeders with over 1000 head on offer. Choice Steers - 49.00 to 51.00 with sales to 51.00. Good 'Steers - 47.00 to 49.00. Eight steers consigned by Jacob Weiss of Elmira, averaging 1129 lbs. sold for 51.20 with his 'Tering of 32 steers averaging 112 lbs. sold for an overall price )1 50.90. Two steers consigned by Tom vlcPherson of Tecswater, :veraging 1145 lbs. sold - for 0.50. A steer consigned by Lorne adie of Holyrood, weighing 1170 os. sold for 50.25 with his lot of 9 ;leers averaging 1078 lbs. bringing 49.50. Sixteen steers consigned by :arvey Featherstone of "loorefield, averaging 1158 lbs. .Id for 50.40 with his offering of .7 steers averaging 1136 lbs. selling for 49.60. Ten heifers consigned by Frank Weadick of Aariss, averaging 913 lbs. sold for 43.00. Seventeen heifers consigned by Jack Cardiff of Brussels, averaging 907 lbs. sold for 42.05, Two heifers consigned by Earl Fitch of Wroxeter averaging 800 "Santa's Christmas Cake" was done by Grade 2 - 3. The children had fun pretending to bake a Christmas cake. A piano duet was done by CAthy Shiell and Lisa Thompson. Next came the Alley Cats where we used the black lights making a very effective show. The Alley Cats were Neil Hanna, Gidget Lowther, Joanne Coultes, Anna Niewenhuis, Sherry Verbeek, Cathy Walker, Bonnie Walker, Donna Chettleburgh. Jeffrey Cook did a piano solo, "Toccata". Miss Wenger's grade 5 - 6 classes put on a good show called "Rocking Alone in an Old Rocking Chair". We next had.the audience join in and help us sing "If you're Happy and You Know it." The Christmas Story was done 50 to 60 lbs. pigs 36.60. The market - at Brussels Stockyards Friday was slightly lower than last week with a lighter offering of cattle. Choice Steers 46.00 tio 49.00 with sales to 49.10. Good Steers - 44.00 to 46.00. Eight steers consigned by K & L Beef' Farms of Ethel, averaging .1000 lbs. sold for 49.10 with their offering of 18 steers averaging 1087 lbs. selling, for an overall price of 48.48. Two steers consigned by Jim Fritz of R. R .2, Brussels, averaging 1275 lbs.. sold for 47.00. A steer consigned by Alex Fraser of Embro, weighing 1130 lbs. sold for- 46.50. Four steers consigned by Ross Cunningham of R.R.3, Brussels, averaging 1158 lbs. sold for 45.55. Two steers consigned by Earl Johnstone of R.R.1,Walkerton, averaging 1125 lbs. sold for 45.00. Choice Heifers - 40.00 to 42.00. Good Heifers - 38.00 to 40.00. Two heifers consigned by Bob Gemmel! of R.R:2, Kippen, averaging 950 lbs. sold for 42.00 with his 4 heifers averaging 955 lbs. selling for 41.25. Twelve heifers consigned by Doug. McPherson of R.R.2, Wingham, averaging 944 lbs. sold for 41,70. A heifer consigned by Summerland Farms of R.R:4, Brussels, weighing 860 lbs, sold for 40.50. Nine heifers consigned by Carl Fitch of R.R.1, Wroxeter, averaging 910 lbs. sold for 40.85 with his entire offering of 24 heifers averaging 862 lbs. selling for 40.25. Three heifers consigned by Wilhelm Bros. of Walkerton, averaging 1013 lbs. sold for Grade 4 - 5 class. The primary choir sang the songs "Santa's Coming" and "Christmas Gifts", "Santa Gets a Surprise" was presented by Grades 5 - 6. Dianne Scott sang a solo playing her guitar. An amusing play was put'on by Karen Jaretzke, Steven Nixon, Patti Edwards, Ronald McDowell, Jeffrey Cook, called "The Parent Exchange". A duet "Silent Night" was done by Marion and Glen Taylor. "The Trouble with Rudolph" was by Grade 6 - 7. The reindeer were Patti Shiell, Bonnie Askes, Brenda. Burchill, Kelly Lougheed, Arlene Johnston, Kathy Marriatt, Eric Taylor, Carolyn Campbell, Mark Cook, Elves were Brian Snowden and Eric Cook. Stablemen were Geoffery Hamilton and Santa Claus 'was David Pletch. A piano duet was then given by Kim and Patti McDowell.. Steven Stevenson did an accordion solo called "Jingle Bells". The Grade 8 class did the song "Jesus Christ Super Star". Grade 8 girls did the song "1 don't Know How to Love Him". They also did the song, "The Lord's Prayer". For the grade 8 songs Eric Niessen played the guitar. Piano and tone blocks were played by Joanne Edgar and the drums by Craig Brydges. Kenneth Marks was the Master of Ceremonies. Cranbrook has Xmas carrollers Correspondent Mrs. Mac Engel A tractor drawn wagon loaded with a group of energetic young people visited homes around here singing carols on Christmas eve. it was greatly apprecited by those visited. Mr. and Mrs. John Vall and daughters, Marathon, Ont., spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Engel and other members of • the family. The family and descendants of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Smith, Brussels, numbering around eighty had their Christmas get- together in the Community Centre on sunday. Holiday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Purdy were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Purdy and children, Alliston, Mr. and Mrs. John Bouch and family, Collingwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ritz, Monkton. Mr. and Mrs. George Szarek spent Christmas in Kitchener. Spending Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn were Mr. and Mrs. Allan Dunn, Ricky and, Bonita, Mr. and Mrs. Don Jacklin, Tracy and Danny, all of Bloomingdale, Mr. and Mrs.Bill Muchan, London and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. MacDonald, MolesWorth. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Huether and girls, Cambridge, were holiday visitors with Mrs. Glenn Huether.
