Daughter Debbie, his passenger, waits patiently for Dad to get it fixed. Snowmobile tracks are all over the countryside this week, following the best' weekend for winter sports so far this winter. Second - Ron McLean and rink; Figure Skating Test Day was held in Walkerton on Sunday Dec. 15th with the following skaters being successful from the Brussels Skating Club. Dutch Waltz: Ann Kernaghan, Julie McDonald, Joanne Knight, Karen Alexander, Patricia Haveman, Bonnie Evans, Kevin Wheeler. Canasta Tango: Jackie Third - Doug Rathwell and rink; Fourth - Ken McDonald and rink. The 11:30 Draw - First - Murray Hoover - Skip, Francis Bremner- vice, Jan Van Fleit - second, Gladys Bray - lead. Second - Ross Veitch and rink. Third - Joe Smith and rink. Fourth - Orval Bauer and rink. Workman, Anne Kernaghan, Karen Alexander, patricia Haveman, Kevin Wheeler, Leanne Cossitt. Monday evening, Dec. 16, 'the Novice Minor Hockey team :travelled to Listowel for an .exhibition hockey game. They came home after a very good game with a 4-3 win over their opponents. Scoring for Brussels was Dean Rutledge 2 goals with Doug. Shaw and Darrin Watts one each. Assists went to Gary Godkin and Doug. Shaw. The Atom "A's." travelled to • lIttcknow on Monday where they :picked up a 4-3 win also. Scoring :'for Brussels was Kevin Deitner, Danny Achilles, Todd Wheeler and STeve Knight. Assists went to Kevin Deitner, Todd Wheeler and Steve Knight. On Wednesday night the same team hosted the Ripley team and !defeated them 6-1. Assists went to Brussels teams During Christmas week two local teams were involved in the Kincardine Winter Games .1Tournament. On the Saturday the 1 Atom "A" team played at noon 4 hour against Hanover. Aft er a very exciting hockey game they emerged the winners by a 3 - 2 score. Brussels scorers were Terry McCutcheon, Todd 1. Wheeler and Kevin Deitner. Assists went to Kevin Wheeler and Steven Knight. After a rather long afternoon they played their ;: second game at six o'clock and didn't seem to have the drive of Lt their first game and very defeated by Walkerton 5 - 1. Brad Wright scored the only goal assisted by Terry McCUtcheon, The Peewees played on . the following. Monday in the same tournament.Their first opponent was Tiverton whom they romped over 14-3. Ken Cousins led the winners with 8 goals, Brian Ten Pas 2, Ken Higgins 1, Gary McWhirter 1; Gary McCutcheoti 1, Darwin McCutcheon 1. Assists went to DVid Engel, Terry McCtiteheott, Paul Johnston, Ken Cousins, Brian Tenpas,, Ken Higgins, Gary McWhirter` arid Darwin McCutcheon.. In their second game of the day Kevin Wheeler, Danny Achilles, Todd Wheeler and Doug. McArter. The Bantam team was at home on Wednesday evening to Mildmay. After a very good hockey game Brussels won 7 - 5 over their opponents. Leading the Brussels team was Alan Bragg with 4 goals, Scott Wheeler, Tim Prior and Brian Deitner one each. Assists went to Murray Ducharme, Dave Watts, Alan B ragg, Scott Wheeler, Doug Cousins and John Richmond. On Thursday night the Pee Wee "A" team travelled to Milverton where the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Scoring for Brussels was Brian' Tenpas with 2 goals and Ken Cousins, one goal and one assist. On Friday night they journeyed to Blyth where they had a 6 - 0 win. The goal scorers were Ken Cousins, Ken Higgins, their opponents were the home team of Kincardine who defeated the Brussels squad 6 - 2. Brussels' two goals were Scored by Ken Higgins and Ken Cousins both unassisted. The Peewee team also played in the annual Legion Tournament in Lucknow this past Sunday. They were leading the team from Seaforth 2-1 with only 2 m inutes left to play when Seaforth tied the score. They went into a sudden death overtime with SEaforth scoring the winning game. Good game boys, that provides good hockey entertainment. Local activity was rather slow with Christmas and New Years on Wednesdays. On Friday, Dec. 27 the Peewees were visited by Lucknow and played to a 4-4 fie. Ooal scorers were Brian Tenpas 2, Darwin and Terry McCutcheon 1 each, Assists went to Ken Cousins and Terry McCutcheon. The ATorn A team travelled to Ripley the same night where they picked up a 3-2 win. Kevin Deitner scored 2 goals,. Steven Knight 1 with assist s going to Danny Achilles, Kevin neither and Steven Knight. Saturday night the Novice team hosted Grand' Bend whom they Brian Ten Pas, Paul Johnston, Paul Bragg and DAvid Engel. Assists went to . Gary. McCutcheon, Ken Cousins. Darwin McCutcheon, Ken Higgins, Garry McWhirter, Brian Tenpas. The Midget team was at home to Teeswater on Friday night with the final score being Teeswater 8, Brussels 5. Goal scorers were Bob Bridge, 2, Danny White 2, Murray Ducharme 1. Assists went to Murray Nichol, Jamie Jutzi, Murray Wheeler, Paul Gowing and Dave Watts. On Monday, Dec. 23 the Midgets travelled to Blyth to be defeated 9 - 1. Bob Bridge was Brussels' only goal scorer. Assists went to Murray Nichol and Murray Wheeler. Figure skating tests were held at Mildmay Arena on Saturday when results for the Brussels Figure Skaters were: Dances Dutch Walts karen Johnston Canasta - Anne Leeking, Julie MacDonald; Joanne Knight. Swing Jackie Workman. On Sunday, Goderich Figure Skating Club hosted a test day and the followng tests were passe passed. by the Brussels members. Preliminary Figures - Kevin Wheeler Third Figure - Michelle McCutcheon; Joan Heuther. Senior Bronze Dances - Ten Fox - Leanne Cossitt Willow - Leanne Cossitt Fiesta - Leanne Cossitt Jr. Silver Dance Tango Michelle • Mc- Cutcheon; Joan Heuther. This completes the Junior Silver Dance set for Michelle and Joan. Play in Kincardine tournament defeated 6 - 2. On January 3 the Peewees played Blyth and defeated them 8 - 3. The Midget team played Howich and won by a 9 - 5 score. On Saturday night Jan. 4 the Novice team were visited by Seaforth. Brussels won 13-2. Scoring for Brussels was Doug. Shaw with 5 goals, Robbie Cardiff 3, Gary Godkin 2, Kevin McArter 1, Darrin Watts 1, Dean Rutledge 1.
