must use the same mysterious
high test fuel as the lamp. It did
occur to me in bed that pumping
them up must be a tremendous
job, but I was too sleepy to pursue
'my first scientific deduction any
further. There was one worry. I
hoped . Santa ClauS, if he
attempted to light our new lamp,
kept his beard far enough away,
and I think I made feeble attempt
to get up and warn my father
before the deep sleep of
exhaustion came, .
That was the year there was a .
small toy engine in my stocking
that produced real steam. Mother
was convinced ' that between it
and the lamp We would blow up
the whole place.
We didn't, and by the next year,
there were more windows
showing gas light than the pale
glow of coal-oil lamps.
also found the invoice for the
toy steam engine, but as they say,
'Pro gress has, a price,' and in
this case. I managed to conceal
my deductions about Santa Claus
for • two years. This is the first
time I've ever unveiled my theory
about the starlight. I was always
afraid to mention it. It wasn't so
hard to • think of some mighty
high-test fuel for the stars but it
was the idea of having to pump
each one up I thought people
might doubt..
Luke 2 : 8 - 20, this was followed
by a prayer read by Judy
Shortreed. Silent Night was sung.
Wilma Hemingway then read
the very interesting and inspiring
story of ,"The Littlest Angel".
The hymn"angels from the
Realms of Glory" was sung
followed by all repeating the
Myspah benediction.
Carols were sung and the Pres.
Mary Huether then took charge of
the meeting. Reports were given
and if was' decided to hold a pot
luck supper for the January
meeting.
. Leona Armstrong conducted a
game and this was followed by
the gifts under the Christmas tree
being distributed to all present.
The hostess and committee in
charge served a deliciOtts lunch.
