Mrs. Glenn Golley opened the meeting with the poem, "My Christmas Wish". "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night" was sung. Scripture was read by Mrs. Lola Mann, who. also gave the comments and prayer. The minutes were read by Mrs. Glenn. McKercher. Roll call was answered by comments on a topic of the year from each member. Mrs. Harvey Robertson had charge of Trustees John McCann of Ailsa Craig and Oscar Kieffer of Bluevale who have se'rued on the Huron-Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School Board for the past six yearswerehonored Wednesday night' prior to their retirement. • At a meeting held in Grand Bend the two trustees who, have been on the county board since it was formed in 1969 were each presented with a gift. the topic. "What is Christmas?" "Hark the Herald Angels sing" was sung and Mrs. Golley closed the meeting with the Lord's Prayer. Ten tables of euchre played in the Bluevale Community Hall on Thursday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott and Mr.. and Mis. Leslie Greenaway were in charge. Prizes were won by: High Lady - Mrs. Ross Turvey; Low Lady - Kathy Walker; High Man Charles Mathers; Low Man George Fischer; Door Prize Stanley Moffatt. There will be a euchre party, Thursday, Jan. 2. Everyone welcome. A capacity crowd enjoyed the annual Christmas concert presented by the Women's Institbte held in the Community Hall, Friday evening. Institute members opened the concert by singing Christmas carols. Children saying• recitations were Valerie, Debbie, Bruce and Ian Johnston, Michael Fraser, Dean Nicholson, DAvid Wheeler, Mark Breckenridge, Julie Stainper and Tracy Jarvis. Taking part in musical numbers we're Susan Chapman, , Mary Anne Nicholson, Barbara and Karen Johnston and Mrs. Donald Street. Mrs. Bert Garniss and Susan Elston told a children's story.. Three dialogues, "Child Psychology", Mr. Garniss's StrahgeAilment" and "And The Lamp Went Out", were presented by the Institute members. Christmas carols were enjoyed by all with Mrs. Carl Ted Geoffrey of Zurich, who presented the gift to Mr. Kieffer, said he had done an outstanding job for the board. In reply Mr.- Kieffer . thanked the board and asked for the same support for his successor, William Kinahan. Donald Crowley in presenting Mr. McCann with his gift said; • "There can't be a more honest guy around, he says what he thinks. He has done a good job for the board." In reply Mr. McCann Johnston at the piano. Mrs.Wendell Stamper, president, thanked all those who had participated and Santa arrived with candy for the children. Personals Sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Fraser Haugh in the passing of her sister, Miss Bessie Stokes and to Lloyd and Jean Robertson whose Mother passed away on Friday evening. Celebrating Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hall, Chatharn, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hall and family of Shakespeare. Mr, Wayne Pease of London, Mr. and Mrs..1ack Scott and family of Newton and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hall and family of Brussels. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to all the readers of the. Bluevale News. (Intended for last week) Visitors with Mr. .and Mrs. Fraser Haugh and Eileen on Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall were Mr. and Mrs: Jack Scott and family of Newton and Mrs. Bob Casemorc, Jim and Kim of Petrolia. The Sunday School concert of the Bluevale United Church was held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Mr. Larry King, chairman. EAch Sunday School class presented a portion of the program, as did the Young People's of the Church. Mr. Larry King told the children a story and then sang for them, ":The •:Drummer Boy". Chorus', dialogues and skits made up the program. Lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed. spoke of the first year as being a tough one for all the `rneinbers with no superintendent, of the progress made, of 'his year as chairman and wished the board the best in the future. He will be succeeded by Greg Fleming. Pat Carty of Stratford, who was not at the meeting, has served for six years and will be succeeded by Ronald Marcy. Gordon Ball of St. Marys who has served two years will be succeeded by John O'Drowsky. Ted Geoffrey, chairman of the maintenance committee, outlined how $38,000 was spent at the 19 schools in the system in keeping them up to date, such as roof repairs, painting, drainage work. The request by St. Joseph's parish, Stratford, was granted to use St. Michael's School for a COR (Christ in Others Retreat) the weekend of April 4, 5 and 6. The police in Goderich will be alerted to be on the lookout for children playing on the roof of St. Mary's School.
