Crafty ideas will keep
the kids busy weeks be-
fore Christmas, leaving
you free to prepare for
holiday entertaining,
Using materials com-
monly found around the
house and a few decals,
the children can make
little gifts or help you
with holiday decorating.
The following ideas are
suggested by stylists of
Meyercord, the decal com-
pany: even the littlest
gift-giver can take new
texturized, vinyl decora-
tions and press them onto
plain-color mugs or glass-
ware for special appeal.
The colorful Tex Decor
press-ons come in a vari-
ety of holiday designs —
' elves, angels, holly — that
peel right off again. Filled
with Christmas candy, the
decorated pieces make
charming gifts.
Or, enlist the little ones
to help decorate the house:
let them use the press-ons
on windows, glass, patio
and shower doors, mirrors
and even lamps, where the
translucent designs will
glow with extra brilliance.

onto milk-glass mugs, then filling with candy, this
ster creates holiday gifts for family and friends.

Brussels has taken on a very
festive appearance. Many
residents have taken a great deal
of pride in adorning their homes
for the Christmas season. They
are a-glow with beautiful lighting
effects and other symbols
associated with the Christmas
Season. These along with main
street decorative lighting and the
bright Chrismast window displays
gives our village a very attractive
holiday atmosphere.
The Brussels Post is pleased
that so many youngsters
participated in the Christmas
coloring contest sponsored by this
paper. Not only children in this
immediate area, but those of
subscribers in a number of distant
communities sent in entries and
their interest was appreciated.

We wonder what the children
. of .to-day would think of the
Christmas trees the senior
citizens of to-day enjoyed when
they were children. There were
no Christmas tree lights, and very
few decorations available in those
days. What fun we had preparing
decorations for our tree. Popping
corn, tinting some of it with food
coloring, stringing long garlands
of it, making popcorn balls, to
adorn \the tree; ornaments of
colored beads and glittering
baubles mother had accumulated,
crimping and twisting long
strands of colored paper. Father
made a trip to the woods armed
with a saw; sought and cut down a
tall, beautifully formed tree,
brought it home. and set it up,
Then, what fun to arrange our
home -made decorations. Tiny
candles in tiny holders were
clipped to the tip of every outer
branch. On Christmas Eve, with
parents in close supervision, the
candles were lit. What a beautiful
sight that Christmas tree was
with the myriad of gin point
flickering flames. No it was not
expensive but it was our own
creation and it was lovely.

Keep Christmas Safe
and ljappy! if you are driving,
take care. Alcohol and gasoline
make a good mixture for tragedy.
Take precautions with Christmas
trees, lights and wrappings. They
arc potential fire hazards. Enjoy
your Christmas dinner but do not
gorge on the Christmas feast until -
you arc too stuffed, sleepy, and
uncomfortable to enjoy the rest of
the holiday.
