A similar contest in 1970 drew participation from more than' 50,000 children, These are the rules : 1, All entries must be in some way appropriate to the theme "What Christmas. Means To. Me". 2. All entrants must be residents of Canada and must not have reached their 13th birthday before the closing date for submissions (February 14, 1975). 3. Each entry must measure approximately 12" x 15" and be mailed flat or rolled. Do not fold. 4. One entry per. child. 5. Each child should be allowed as much freedom as possible. e.g., paint, pencil, crayon, ink, charcoal, , pastel, collage, etc, are all acceptable. 6. Entries should not be in the form of st amps or st amp designs. e.g., they should not include denominations or the word Canada. The paintings or drawings selected will be made into stamp designs by the appropriate Post Office staff. 7. The name, age, address and school of the child must be clearly printed on the back of his or her entry. 8. Entries must be mailed between December 2, 1974 and February 15, 1975. All entries must be post marked before midnight, February 14, 1975. 9. Christmas stamps The Canada Post Office has rganized an imaginative 1975 ristmas stamp design project rected to Canadian children nder the age of 13, The project will begin December 2, 1974. coadiatteb ildren from coast to ..st are invited to contribute eir own drawings or paintings, pressing the theme "What litistmas Means ToMe". These ill be used to produce several stiactive Christmas stamp signs reflecting the essence of Christmas spirit and the eshness and variety of young Inhe ds. The Departments of Education every province are co-operating ith the project. The Canada Post Office issues pecial stamps each year to mark e Christmas season and ormally these are designed by professional. artists. For Christ mas 1975 designs. by Canadian children will be used. Children are invited to participate -in the project by submitting their personally executed designs between December 2, 1974 and February 14, 1975, Selection will be made initially on a - regional basis and subsequently at the national level. To assist with the screening of designs, the Canada Post Office has enlisted the aid of regional panels, including directors of art galleries, artists, art educators and members of the Advisory Committee on stamp design..
