were presented to Brussels Girl Guides last week.

The Post is early
While this issue, with its pages of Christmas greetings, is
dated December 25th, because of the holidays, it is being
published early so that copies may be in the mail prior to
Christmas.
The next issue, that of January 1st, 1975 also will be published
early and will be in the mail on Monday, December 30th for
delivery prior to New Years. The co-operation of correspondents
and advertisers is requested so that copy may be in the office as
early as possible and in any event not later than Friday,
December 27th.

Canada Cord
Brussel Girl Guide's held their-
weekly meeting at the Library on
December 9th. After regular
opening ceremony followed by
House Shoe, two new Guides,
Jeanne Triebner and Cathy
Convey were enrolled. To them
,we say welcome and hope you
enjoy the fun and challenge in
guiding. Badges were then
presented by Mrs. Wellington,
Captain and Mrs. Blinkhein,
Lieutenant Cathy Dietner -
cook, pet keeper, home maker,
collector and toymaker; Janet
Heibein - woodmen, flower
arranger; Cathy Elliott - collector,
toy maker; Velve Elliott - collec-
tor; Carol Whiting - needle-
worker,, artist, poultry farmer;
Trina Watts - Woodman, flower
arranger; Eliz. Exel-woodman,
flower arranger; Jean McArter -
challange badge, junior camper,
toymaker; 'Cathy Sholdice - toy-
maker, collector; Linda Whiting -
camp leader, challenge emblem,
Be Prepared emblem, citizen
badge, collector, seamstress,
home maker, hostess, hiker,
cyclist.
These girls worked hard to earn
these badges and to them we say
congratulations and keep up the
good work.
After presentation of badges
the girls all got busy with needles
and thread making Santa. Claus
hats to decorate baby food jars.
These jolly old St. Nick jars were
then filled with candy which the
girls contributetd to be taken to.
the Nursing Home. Their way of
saying "Merry Christmas to the
Shuf-ins".
Canda Cord Presentation
Linda Whiting was presented
with the Canada Cord, highest
award in guiding at the weekly
meeting. To be eligible for this
award several badges must be
earned. One of these being camp
leader or wilderness campers
.badge. The girl must show her
capability of supervising younger
girls at a regular camp. Also she
has to volunteer 15 hours service
to a group of younger children. '
. This Linda did helping in Christ
Anglican Church, Listowel,
Nursery School. Linda says "It
was fun if I can do it so can you,
so keep working for it girls."

in Snow Oueen contest
Contestants in the Snow Queen
Contest last week included Julie
Campbell, sponsored by the
Village of BruS'sels; Bonnie
Richmond, Fire Department;
Dianne Stevenson, Public School;
Dianne Willis, Legion; Linda
Machan, Brownies and Guides;
Susan Langlois, Business
Association; Michelle
McCutcheon, Lions; Carol
Raymond, Optimists and Maxine
Vats, Antique Car Club.
Maxine Watts ,was crowned
Snow Queen and runners up were
Diane Willis and Michelle
‘McCutcheon.- Contestants were
judges on talent and an interview
and the Ding-a-lings entertained
while judging took place. Judges
were Paddy Robertson,
Wingham, Mrs. Jean Weber,
Ethel,. and Bruce McCall,
Brussels. Ben Ten Pas was
chairman. of the Snow Queen
contest.
WINS CANADA CORD — Long time Brussels GM
Guide Linda Whiting received her Canada cord last
week. Pinning on the award is Captain G. Kellington
