new Bof E chairman
Wilfred , Shortreed, a
0-year-old Walton area farmer

Hill of Goderich.

the Townships of Grey and Morris
and the Village of Brussels was
vice-chairman last year.
Herbert Turkheim, publisher of

acclaimed as vice-chairman.
The 1975 board members,

With all the pleasant anticipa-
tion and preparations for Christ-
mas filling our hearts and minds,
and the joy and blessings of
having our loved ones gathered
with us, let us not forget the true
spirit of Christmas. This season
is the time of giving and receiving
gifts. The greatest gift of all was
the birth of the Babe of Bethle-
hem. Let our hearts be filled with
love for one another and the hope
for peace in our world.

The outdoor Christmas decora-
tion theives have been at work in
a nearby town. At time of writing
no such "dirty work" had been
reported in Brussels. The
stealing of such decorations,
Christmas tree lights and displays
is a disgraceful type of thievery
during the holiday season.
People go to considerable
expense and work to give their
homes a festive look, which all
can enjoy. If people cannot afford
their own Christinas decorations
they should respect those. of
others. If they steal them to sell
for pocket money that is even
more despicable. It certainly
does not exemplify the Christmas
spirit.

An extra Christmas gift for the
farmers was the announcement
that the Farm Tax Reduction
Program, *which allowed the
owners of farm land a 50 per cent
rebate on last year's municipal
taxes, is being continued for the
1974 tax year. Such announce-
ment has no doubt made it
possible for many farmers to
enjoy a merrier Christmas.

A great many people think cats
are stupid animals. What about
the 3 year old Siamese cat of B.C.
that made her way 428 miles to be
reunited with her owners? It took
her 18 Months to do it. To top it
all the family had been moving to
Calgary from Kelow .na, B.C.
when the cat was lost at Revel-
stoke. It is believed she may have
gone home to Kelow .na but
finding no one there made her
way to the home of her owner's
mother in New Westminster
where the family visited before
going to Calgary. Stupid? Not by
any means.

Your last chance to win at
turkey for Christmas is Friday
evening of this week. That will be
the final Turkey Bingo of the
Brussels Legion for this season.
