Rev. Stanley Mc- Donald of Londesboro was the officiating clergyman for the ceremony assisted by Pastor David Hine of Atwood. Mr. and Mrs.Charler Lake of Atwood are the parents of the bride. Mrs.Alex Pearson of Ethel is the 'mother of the groom. Mrs. John Irwin of Atwood provided the wedding music. Pieter Dekker of Listowel as soloist sang "Jest/1 Joy of Man's Desiring" and "Ode of Joy". The bride chose a full-length gown of French imported Chantilly lace. It featured a mandarin neckline, fitted bodice and long fit- ted sleeves. The full gathered skirt in tiers of lace fell into a chapel train. The gown was accented with satin ribbon ties around neckline and sleeves. Her bouquet was dried straw flowers in shades of red, white and blue. Mrs.Wayne McTaggart of Harriston, as maid of honor, was gowned in royal blue silk jersey knit. The gown was sleeveless with empire waist, deep V neckline, back and front and soft A line skirt. The short hooded jacket had long sleeves, high neckline and fastened at the waist w 4 th ties. The bridesmaids,' Miss Joan Pearson, sister of the groom, of Ethel, Miss Linda La-ke, sister of the bride of Atwood,Mrst. Danny McCracken, sister of the bride, of Kitchener, and Miss Cindy Thompson of Owen Sound, wore dresses, and carried flowers, identical to that of the matron-of-honor. Miss Lisa McRae, niece of the bride, of Palmerston, wore whie silk knit trim- med with royal blue and carried a basket of'dried flowers. Mr. Wayne McTaggart of Harriston was the groom's best man. Guests were ushered by Danny McCracken of Kitchener, Wayne Mc- Donald of London,Dan Pearson and Steven Pearson of Ethel. The men wore grey tuxedos. At the reception in Renton Place, Palmer- ston, the bride's mother received in a floor-length gown of Will we have a rot- ten banana scandal next? Some one said at a meeting I atten- ded, that every week as many trailer loads of bananas spoil in Montreal alone, as trailer loads of eggs spoiled in a whole year. However, since no marketing agency from farmers is in- volved, I doubt if we will ever see anything about it in the papers. Why does every vege- table grower have to dump tons of carrots every year? Because the consumer refuses to buy them if they are not straight and slender. In the mean- time our taxes are spent to investigate the loss of three trailer-loads of eggs, so Beryl Plumptre can keep her $40,000 job and the opposition parties plus a dis- gruntled ex-cabinet minister can have their field day. * * * * * * * Quebec is planning legislation to pre- vent first class farm- land from being taken out of prodUdtion. Her cor-. sage was rose and white dried flowers. She was assisted by the mother of the groom wearing a floor- length knit gown in autumn shades with a corsage of pink dried flowers. For a wedding trip to the Bahama Islands the bride's going away costume was a brown double knit pant suit. The young couple will reside at 106 Lincoln Place, London. Out of town guests attended from Toronto, London, Palmerston, Mount Forest, Durham and Lucknow. Ontario is still con- templating such a move. B.C. has done so al- ready and Saskatchew- an is drafting legis- lationnow. It is hear- tening to see that non-farm people at last are beginning to realize that our grand- children should have something to eat also. Meantime officials of the Ontario govern- - ment are trying to buy class one farmland, one hundred acres of it, for a lagoon for the Blyth sewage system. Whereas Blyth has a population of less than one thousand,it seems that ten acres Will be needed for each man, woman and child in the province. Does Toronto use this much sewage disposal space? I. think not, for then most of On- tario would be one big lagoon. The question is, what is more im- portant, some extra money for a treatment plant or permanently destroying food,ro- ducing land. Queens Park must be a con- futed bunch of burea crats. Agri-notes (By Adrian Vos) 14 THE BRUSSELS- POST', NOVEMBER. 20., 1 97.4
