Brussels The Majestic Women s Institute cele- brated its 35th an- niversary with a ban- quet on Wed .Nov.13-- in the Brussels: United Church with about 60 ladies pres- ent, The tables were tasteful ly decorated with Institute col ors of blue and gold flowers , candles, streamers and cen- tred' with 2-tier cake. The Majestic In- stitute was organ- ized Nov. 16,1939 by the late Mrs.Harold Speir, then Pres. of East Huron District, who ,saw need for• an. organization'to bring together the ladies of Schbol Section No. 1, Grey in a common interest. The name 'Majestic' was chosen from the visit of their Majes- ties King George V1 hnd Queen Elizabeth to Canada that sum- mer. 'In Memoriam' was conducted for forty-six deceased members by Mrs.Cud- more. Taken by surprise, Mrs.Wilma Hemingway, the first President and Mrs. Amy Speir, who has been secre- tary for 22 years, were presented with life membership cer- tificates and pins in recognition of over 25 years of out standing 'service to the Institute. The audience en- joyed two musical duets, 35th Anniver- sary Song and W.I.
