organize
new season

Brussels Girl Guide L.A. held
their first meeting of the season
on Nov. 5 with 20 members
present. Mrs. L. Havemen,
President opened the meeting
and introduced Mrs. Robt.
Newnham of Seaforth, District
Guide Commissioner. Mrs.
Newnham suggested many ideas
for Leaders and Mothers to help
Brownies and Guides to get more
fun and satisfaction out of
Guiding in order to help them
become more responsible adults
and citizens.
New committee members were
nominated: Mrs. M. Higgins,
President; Mrs. H. Bridge, Trea-
surer; Mrs. R. Bishop, Secretary;
Mrs. T. Triebner & 'Mrs. A.
Tenpas, Lunch Committee. To
them we say welcome and hope
you enjoy this worthwhile
endeavour. To the outgoing
committee, Mrs. L. Havemen,
President; Mrs. F. Machan,
Treasurer; and Mrs. N. Scott,
Secretary; Mrs. T. Flail & Mrs.
D. Huether, Lunch Committee,
we want to say thank you for
• doing such a wonderful job this
past year in helping our girls and
also for giving the mothers some
knowledge and a better under-
standing on what Guides is all
about. '
Melville W.M.S. met at the
home of Mrs.Gerald Gibson with
fifteen members and one visitor.
Mrs.Ada Armstrong. 2nd. vice
president was leader and opened
the meeting with a paper on
"Remembrance". "What a
Friend we have in Jesus" was
sung with Mrs. King at the piano.
The secretary report was given by
Mrs. Steiss and the treasurer's
report by Mrs. Speir. There were
seventeen calls on sick and
shut;-ins. The collection was
taken by Mrs.Spcir and dedicated
by Mrs. Armstrong. The scripture
from Psalm 146 was read by Mrs.
Bowman and the meditation on
faith was read by Mrs. Matheson
and prayer by Mrs. Mair.
The topic on "Dinah" the
daughter of Jacob and grand-
ilaughter of Isaac and Rebecca
was given by Mrs. Joe Martin. All
who could were to attend a
meeting in Atwood on Nov. 13 at
7:45 to her Miss Lillian Dickson ,
a missionary, speak.
"Jesus Shall Reign Where'er
the Sun", was sung. The
nominating committee brought in
a slate of officers for the year 1975
as follows: President - Mrs. Mair;
1st Vice President - Mrs. Joe
Martin; 2nd Vice President - Mrs.
Ada Armstrong; Secretary - Mrs.
Alex Steiss; Asst. Secretary - Mrs
Clark Matheson; Treasurer - Mrs
visited on the weekend with Mrs.
Glenn Huether.
Mr. & Mrs. Ken Miller and
girls, Toronto, visited Mrs. Lytle
Gordon.
Mrs. Bradford, London, spent a
few days with her daughter, MrS.
W. G. Elliott.
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs.
Jack Conley on the birth of their
grandson in Listowel Hospital on
November 11th. The parents are

Brussels Girl Guides are now in
full swing again under the
competent leadership of. Mrs. G.
Wellington. Without Mrs.
Wellington there would be no Girl
Guide Troop in Brussels this year
so to her we wish to express ,our
special thanks for her courage
and leadership. Welcome to our
new leaders: Mrs.D.Blenkhorn
and Mrs. O'Singia, Lieutenants;
Mrs. D. Hemmingway, Badge
Secretary; also to Susan Moore
and Debbie Trollope who have
volunteered their services to the
troop.
We would like to take -the
opportunity here to thank Mrs. J.
Stephenson and Miss S. Watts,
- Lieutenants who have now
