Following lunch the tour moved on to the Van Egmond house in Seaforth. The group was shown through the partially restored h muse and given a resume of it's history. Gracious Hostesses Meet The first meeting of the "Cranbrook Gracious Hostesses" was held at Miss Van der Veen's home. Janet Vcitch discussed "Hospitality at Home" and how to make hostess reference files. For practical work Tracy Engel demonstrated measuring fluid. Rosanne Eiigle, Lynn Cameron and Joan Hart demonstrated measuring a solid (salt) and everyone made • a flower arrangement% Officers elected are President - Rosanne Engel; Vice President - Bernice van Donkcrsgoed; Treasurer - Joan Hart; Secretary - Tracy Engle; Press Reporter - Sharon Engel. At a second meeting at the home of Janet Witch, Janet discussed types of dinnerware, and "setting the table", Sylvia Van der Veen "Manners at the table", and "buffet meals". A fire started around the truck following the collision but Mr. Davis extinguished it with a fire extinguisher he had in his truck. A tank of propane gas on the truck was thrown into a field on the impact and it blew up but was far enough away no one was injured. The collision, which"- occurred on County Road 25, two miles west of County Road 12 at Walton at 10f45 a.m. Saturday, was investigated by Constable Ken Armstrong of Goderich. Damage to the McClure car was $1,100 and to the truck $3,000. Mr. McClure and Miss Barbour were to, be married in October. Conservation Begins In The Garden Don't remove all leaves and grass clilppings from your vegetable garden, says Consumers' Association of Canada. On the contrary, leaves and grass clippings can be useful as a mulch between rows of vegetables to reduce weeding and conserve moisture. Several layers of old newspapers covered with leaves arid grass clippings are particularly effective.
