Conservation Begins
In The Garden
Don't remove all leaves and
grass clilppings from your
vegetable garden, says
Consumers' Association of
Canada. On the contrary, leaves
and grass clippings can be useful
as a mulch between rows of
vegetables to reduce weeding and
conserve moisture. Several layers
of old newspapers covered with
leaves arid grass clippings are
particularly effective. These
materials will help maintain the
organic matter content of the soil
