A party was held in the Craft room on Sunday .afternoonto
honour Mrs. Isabella. Hamilton on her 100th Birthday,
Seventy-five relations and friends attended the party with
messages of congratulations being received from Robert
McKinley, M.P.. and Jack Riddell. M.P.P.
Molly Cox, Norman. Speir and Jerry Collins provided 014
tyme music for Monday's activities. The residents 'had .an
opportunity to congratulate and sing "H.apy Birthday" to
Mrs. Hamilton, who was able to make several requests for
favourite tunes for the sing-a-long.
Forty-four residents travelling by bus and van had a picnic
at Harbour Park, Goderich on Tuesday afternoon. The first
stop on the tour was a visit to the Pioneer Museum and after
ltinch toured the harbour area,. Sifto Salt Mine, The Fall's
Conservation Area, Benmiller and the Jervis Sanctuary at
Holmesville.
The Crediton Women's Institute were hosts on Wednesday
afternoon for the August Birthday party, Mrs. Shapton was.
emcee for "the following program. Violin and piano selections
by Lois Hodgins and Mr. Sawyer, step dancing Mona
Hodings, a vocal trio Kathy Davey, Bevan — Janet Shapton,
readings by Jean Neil and Piano recital Anne Dearing. Gifts
were presented to the celebrants by the ladies and after
singing of Happy Birthday, lemonade and cup cakes were
served. Mrs. Foster , who was celebrating her 91st birthday
on Wednesday, thanked the ladies on behalf of the residents.
MOVING TO CRANBROOK — Mr. and Mrs. Graeme McDonald bought the former
Ken Campbell residence on Concession 7, McKillop Township recently and had a
foundation prepared for it on a lot in the village of Cranbrook, east of Brussels. Last
Wednesday was moving day and as Parsons Movers of St affa pulled the two storey
frame house along the sideroad to Grey Township, crews from Ontario Hydro were
on hand to lift up the Hydro lines at each crossroad. (Staff Photo)

The weather was ideal for the band concert on the lawn on
—Family Night" played by the Mitchell Legion Band. All of
the residents were able to take advantage of the fine band
music, as the windows were all opened on the west side of the.
home. It was a real treat to hear the marches and familiar
tunes.

The Citizenship and World
Affairs meeting of the Walton
Women's Institute was held in
the Community Hall on Wednes-
day evening, August 21st.
Mrs. Don Achilles, Vice-Presi-
dent, opened the meeting in the
absence of the President, Mrs.
Allan McCall, with the Institute
Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect
and 0 Canada. The pianist was
Mrs. Laverne Godkin. The
minutes were read by Mrs. Ken
McDonald. The Roll Call was
answered by an item from the
past and tell a little about it. This
was followed by the treasurer's
report and the collection.
In the correspondence, the
nutrition workshop was
announced to be held at Wroxeter

the Brussels Lions Club. Their
last appearance here was greeted
with enthusiasm by the large
number of people who thoroughly
enjoyed the evening. Reserve
September 13th to go dancing to
the music of Lionel Thornton and
his Casa Royal Orchestra. Even if
you only go to listen, you will not
want to piss it.

What has been an eyesore for
some time has not been removed.
The property on Mill Street, one
block west of the main street, last
occupied by the Waxmans, which
has been vacant for some years, is
now owned by the village. The old
cement building has been
demolished and the entire area
cleatiq, up. As the property is too
stnall (a half lot) to be used for
building it will, most likely be
utilized as additional parking
area,

on November 5th. There was a
discussion to order more Institute
plates. The County Rally was
announced to be held in Brussels
on October 7th. Mrs. George
McCall and Mrs. Ken McDonald
to look after the Hobby Craft table
at the County Rally. It was
decided to invite Blyth, Londes-
boro, Brussels, Cranbrook and
Moncrief to the Education and
Cultural Activities meeting in
September. There will be pictures
shown and a bake sale held.
The committee chosen to look
after the display at the Brussels
Fall Fair are Mrs. Nelson Marks,
Mrs. Harold Hudie and Mrs. Bill
Humphries. It was voted to start
the euchre card parties at earlier
date in October 4th and 18th.
The convenors of the meeting
were Mrs. Graeme Craig and
Mrs. Sholdice. They had as their
guest Mrs. Gordon Engel of
Cranbrook, who gave a very
interesting talk on the history of
that community and had many
phOtos on display. She mentioned
things people should value and
keep a record that will be history
someday.
Mrs. Nelson Reid introduced
the guest speaker and Mrs. G.
Craig presented Mrs. Engel with
a gift.
The hostesses Mrs: Laverne
Godkin, Mrs. Jim Axtmann, Mrs.
Dave Watson, and Mrs. Harold
Hudie served lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Machan and
family of Sarnia visited on the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Nelson Reid. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Stimore of Stratford visited on
Sunday at the same home.
Mrs. F. Dunk arrived home
Sunday following a week visitinj
with her daughter, Mrs. Ford, if
Sheffield and Mr. and Mrs
Phillip Dunk in Toronto.

Mrs, Torrence Dundas.
