lko Canadian Tire started in Sealorth with Gar Smith Canadian Tire came to Seaforth in 1950 when the late Gar Smith, who had been operating a garage in Dublin for nearly thirty years, opened an outlet here. In company with his nephew, Wm. Smith, Mr. Smith soon built a thriving business that resulted in an expansion program in 1957 when floor space was doubled. Shortly after, Mr. Smith retired. The business was carried on by Bill Smith until in 1967 it was sold to Fred Tilley. Gar Smith died while vacationing in Florida in 1965 and Bill Smith died in June 1973. Thanks to
