Mrs. Stuart Stevenson, retained
August 1 from a trip that included
daily attendance at. UN sessions,
a boat trip to the statue of Liberty
and .tours of the Empire State
Building and' Rockefeller Centre.
She travelled to New York with 46
Canadians, from all over Ontario,
who were also sponsored by the
two lodges.
In New York they were joined
by several busloads of American
st udents. All the Rebekah and
Ocklfellow winners, about 150,
toured together and there were
two Canadians and two
Americans sharing many of the
hotel rooms.
Anna Lee found New Yorkers
"very friendly" 'but said the
subway there was really dirty. "It
was over 100. In the subway some
days and as soon as you walked
down you felt like you had'igotten
hit in the face with a wet rag."
She made many good friends,
really enjoyed herself, and
learned a lot, Attna Lee said, She
will be speaking to lodges in this
area and showing slides of her
trip this fall. On September 11
she will be in. Brussels, but no
other speaking dates have been
confirmed yet.
